I need nothing more than to share the uncanny treasure sniffing ability of my group.
Last night we played through the cornucopia and everything it entails. The party members did very well (although the rogue who played Larazod pissed off the servants and got a little drunk) and I provided them every little tidbit of information needed to direct them towards the attic without outrgitht telling them, "go to the attic".
So what's the first thing they do? Well the sorcerer had poked around just a little and found a staircase in a room on the northeast corner of the upper floor heading down to the main floor. The party decided that was where the mirror (they knew it would be mirrored) would have to be located, since it was "behind the big obsidian door".
Here's where their uncanny ability to stumble on things went nuts. They head down and immediately find the manor's treasure chamber and loot it of the 750 platinum inside (they left the gold figuring it was too much to carry). They then make their way rapidly down the hall and make a beeline for the old abandoned priest's chambers. I don't know if the dust and must in the room is what triggered them, but again they immediately find the treasure cache in that room. Realizing that there doesn't seem to be an entrance to anything that would be "behind the big black door" they head across one of the gardens and into the wine cellar where the rogue attempts (and does not succeed) in raiding the vintage wine cabinet.
At this point they have a conversation that, "there's no way the door would be in the attic," but begrudgingly decide that they'd rather go up there than mess with the servants quarters. They nearly gave up in the attic and went back down to the servant's quarters once they found the old building blueprints in the storage room. Their first target would have been? The Majordomo's quarters.
Yes, within maybe 30 minute the party had found 3 of the 4 major treasure caches in the place and would have made a beeline to the 4th if they hadn't miraculously found the secret door to the Asmodean Knot. At least I got them inside, only 2 hours after I originally anticipated.

Have you tried moving any room's contents or changing a few halls/walls around?
Could it be that one of your players has seen the map? Dumb luck to hit 3 rooms that is about all the treasure in the house?
Makes a DM go "Hmmmmm"
Well considering they're already past the manor's rooms, moving them now won't do much good. ;-)
I know my players, it was pure dumb luck. It actually makes you wonder if it was planned to work this way should they go for a specific course of exploration.
