Wrist slots on quadrupeds?

I am thinking of putting bracers of armor on my summoner's eidolon, who happens to be a serpent with the limb (legs) evolution twice along with claws on one pair.

My question is this: is he considered to have wrists for the purposes of magical items? Bracers traditionally go on the wrist slot.

What if I describe them as bracelets instead? It uses up the same slot, but bracelets can go on wrists or ankles.

I'm really hoping that if they keep this stupid restriction on item slots that they simply have all the enhancements affect both Summoner and Eidolon, so you could simply have your Summoner wear the bracers and not have to worry about this.

That would be really neat and would give the eidolons a leg up over animal companions, but it doesn't really answer my question.

And for all those who think Eidolons are stronger, it's highly debateable. When you take into account the druid's class abilities in ADDITION to the animal companion, however, it is clear which duo is stronger.

Animal companions have universally higher max AC, higher HD (important for quite a few spells), higher saving throws, and more feats than Eidolons. They also, situationally, have better equipment selection (apes can use any equipment a human can, in addition to whatever the druid is wearing), are harder to get rid of (no banishment / dismissal), and can have special abilities that Eidolons either cannot get at all (stun) or cannot get as early (flight). They're also Animal type, which has an awful lot of very nice beneficial spells that apply to it, such as animal growth which neatly negates the "but Eidolons can be Huge" argument (and is waaaaaay better than enlarge person).

Eidolons are NOT a clear victor in the "who has a better pet" contest. They win in some categories (total offense) and lose in others.

See what I mean? Like I said though...

animal companion + druid > summoner + eidolon

...every time.
