Grease and climb speeds...

Rules Questions

Liberty's Edge

If a spellcaster were to cast Grease on a wall or ceiling space occupied by a creature(s) with a climb speed, what happens? Do they:

A) Roll a Reflex save as normal and fall to the ground if they fail,

B) The surface is considered slippery for the purpose of making climb checks (+5 DC),

C) The surface becomes too slick to stand on and they automatically fall, or?

D) Something completely different that I'm missing.

I would go with B.

Option A and C seem a little harsh for a first level spell.

Sovereign Court

Well the spell pretty much calls for A to happen, but I don't know if they'd fall or how prone works when your not standing on the ground. It's probably very by what's on the wall doing the climbing. Some things I could see falling and others might be just distracted enough to gain the general effects of being "prone" on the wall.

It would get the +5 climb DC too which might make certain walls too hard for some things with a climb speed to climb. Very useful that!
