DM Dave |

It is a long way from Courascant to Bespin, but that is exactly where you are headed. The Jedi Council and the Republic Senate have sent you out to seek information on a rash of pirate raids in the Outer Rim and Cloud City is the biggest Republic asset out there.
Not that it is a bad assignment. They have chartered a luxury cruiser to transport you out there without drawing attention and you have the ship almost all to yourself. Other then the crew and the other members of your team that is. The captain informs you that your journey will last about a week, which should be plenty of time to get aquainted.

Dr Moma Falomar |

Dr Moma Falomar enters the medical bay of the cruiser.
"Now let's see what I have to work with on this short little trip." quips the good doctor.
Moma pulls out his datapad and enters a new data card. He pulls up the inventory he requested and methodically seeks out each item and checks it off with his long tapered digits.
He then sits down and sends a communique to the other members of his team.
PLEASE MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE MEDICAL BAY FOR A BRIEF PHYSICAL. YOUR UNIQUE PHYSIOLOGY MUST BE RECORDED TO ENSURE PROPER SURGICAL PROTOCOLS ARE ON FILE.
Moma signs the document and sends out the message. While waiting he begins moving things around to suit his preferences. Absent-mindedly, he begins to sing-song in the stereophonic language of Ithor - happy to be at work again.

Corine Hallsley |

Do we have all of our equipment with us on this cruiser, or will it be waiting for us at our destination? As for the assignment, do we have any intelligence on the pirates and any contacts at Bespin?
Upon seeing the communique, Corine sighs reluctantly and rises from the bed in her quarters. She exits her room, wearing a plain white tank top, gray fatigues, her combat boots, and a heavy blaster side arm at her waist (if arms are allowed on board).
Corine heads to see the good Doctor.
"This should be amusing...", thinks Corine.

Tobler Ceel |

Tobler leans back in his chair, noisily eating a piece of fruit. A wooden club hangs from his belt, and although his carbine is being sakely kept in his cabin you're certain that he still has at least one pistol on him.

Cordal Mhoy |

Mhoy wakes up from a brief force trance, stretches and picks up his datapad. He reads over the communiques and notes the good Doctor's note. Still stretching, he heads out of his cabin, greeting each crewman or fellow traveler happily as he goes.
He wears a simple spacer's outfit, unadorned, with a pack over one shoulder. His lightsaber is attached discreetly on his belt.

Narmin'Tier |

Leaving his more heavy weaponry in his quarters, Narmin will at least bring along with him his blaster pistols and ion pistol, keeping them in their holster. You can never be too safe after all, especially when the crew is independent rather than republic guard.
Making sure his uniform, in this case a spacer's suit designed specifically not to look like a uniform, is in order and looking just disheveled enough to pass for something that was just thrown on he sets off for the medical bay. As he goes he makes sure to let his normally strict military stride shift to a more relaxed gait, focusing on it until that begins to feel more normal.
When he enters the medical center he will give a small salute to the Ithorian. "Narmin'Tier reporting for inspection as requested. Eager to meet the rest of the crew."

Kalderaan |

Moma swivels his large, curving head as the Twi'lek gentlemen walks in. He puts his equipment down and stands up to face the visitor, providing a mock salute and a somewhat sheepish grin (if you can tell on an Ithorian).
"No need for the formalities my fellow traveler. I was just hoping to meet my fellow herdmates before we did anything too dangerous. That and ensure nobody was allergic to anything too odd, like bacta." He stops and thinks about his comment and guffaws at his own lame joke - the sound somewhat akin to bagpipes squeezed next to each ear.
"Officially, I am called Doctor Falomar. My herdmates reference me as Moma. And you might be...?" quips Moma - ever focused on the business at hand.

Dokal Ren |

A small droid enters the room, quickly taking a stationary position in a corner near the medical bay's ceiling. It watches the individuals in the room, a small, steady red light on the underside of its chassis the only indication that its transmitting. Upon observing the exchange between the Twi'lek and the Ithorian, it quickly flies toward the doctor. Coming to an abrupt but concise halt, it projects a message using a built-in holoprojector, the text appearing as a scan of someone's handwriting:
No needles for me, thanks. - D. Ren

Dr Moma Falomar |

A scarred Gungan enters the med bay, chewing on a piece of fruit. He tosses the pit into the nearest trash can and turns to scowl at the Ithorian. "What yousa want?"
"I simply wish to know who I am working with and if any special precautions are in order. If I didn't know I was dealing with certain species, I might neglect to equip my medpacs with the necessary tools. We wouldn't want that, now would we?" speaks Moma courteously.
"In fact, we were just getting to the part where I was going to offer some Tovarian brandy, but if you are not inclined, I understand." Moma turns around from the visitors and pulls out a flask of amber colored liquid and pours it in some medically labled containers. "To life and liberty." He takes a swig from one mouth and then the other, just to get the full effect of the liquor in all four throats.
"As I was telling our good friend here" motioning to the Twi'lek, "I am Doctor Falomar but my herdmates refer to me as Moma. And you are...?" tilting his large head in a quizzical gesture, waiting for a response.

Dokal Ren |

"Hold on a bit!" A somewhat breathless Nautolan enters the room, looking as if he ran to the medical bay in a hurry. He takes a moment to catch his breathe before continuing. "If I had known you were going to offer up a toast, I would have insisted I accompany the little guy; he's not quite old enough, you know."
Offering a smile to the group, he continues. "The name's Dokal Ren. The little guy with the holo-emitter's called Zip." Taking a container, Dokal pauses to peer curiously at the label before shrugging and putting it to his lips.

"Greetings, Dokal Ren. Welcome to our merry party." offer Moma. He turns to Tobler and states "Exactly my point for meeting up with you all. If I took normal syringes into battle with this one" motioning to Dokal, "they would bend and break without even scratching the skin." With that he chuckles loudly and offers more drinks to anyone that wants one.

Corine Hallsley |

The doors slide open with a familiar hiss as Corine enters the med bay. Giving the rest of the crew a quick appraising glance, she confidently enters the chamber, offering a nod of recognition to those she makes eye contact with, and makes her way over to the "good doctor", giving a salute of the finest calibre. "First Scout Corine Hallsley reporting as you requested, Doctor Falomar."

"Welcome Corine. I may sound like a broken holo-projector to those in the room already, but I am Doctor Falomar. My herdmates refer to me as Moma. I am glad you could join us in our introductory celebration. The Gungan gentleman here is Tobler Ceel. The Nautolan is Dokal Ren. And our fine Twi'lek friend was just about to introduce himself. Care to join us for a drink?" Moma gestures to each of the team in turn as he introduces them and then grabs another cylinder and waits to fill it after hearing Corine's response.

Dokal Ren |

"What's the point of having a tough hide if you're planning on poking it full of holes, Doc?" The Nautolan laughs lightly at his statement, but even a casual observer would notice the unease with which he crosses his arms across his chest, his unblinking eyes wandering toward the medical instruments arrayed in the med bay.

"Relax Dokal, I don't make it a habit of poking holes in either my patients or my friends. Trust me, if I do end up using a medpac in the field, it will be the lesser of two evils." offers Moma jovially.

Corine Hallsley |

Corine looks each introductee in the eyes and gives a curt nod as Doctor Falomar goes down the line, looking somewhat self-conscious at the thought of interrupting the Twi'lek. "My apologies, Doctor, I don't drink on assignment." With that she makes her way towards a seat, at a respectable distance from the others, to observe her new companions as discreetly as possible...

DM Dave |

"Captain, what have you heard about the pirate raids around Bespin?"
"I have only heard a little," the captain says. "Its percular, they seem to be avoiding the big scores. They are going after medical supplies and industrial equiptment mostly. Not a big black market for that stuff that I'm aware of."

Cordal Mhoy |

"Thank you, Captain. If you'll excuse me, I have an appointment with the good Doctor."
Mhoy walks into the medbay, stopping just inside the door to allow conversation to come to a pleasant pause before introducing himself.

Dr Moma Falomar |

I'm guessing James will be a little late with posting in this tread for a while, given the whole "RPG Superstar" thing he's in.
"Well Doc, yousa know who the sixth member is? He's got to be somewhere on the ship."
"Well, Tobler, I am not entirely sure if I have those records. Let me check..." states Moma as he pulls up his datapad and begins sorting through various files. "It would seem..." begins Moma as a new visitor, all-together a different species than any already in the room, enters. "Speaking of the sixth member, I believe he has arrived." announces Moma as the new guest enters.

Cordal Mhoy |

"Greetings and salutations, Doctor! I am here for my check-up!" Mhoy has a big grin on his face, quite at odds with the traditional Jedi stoicism. "My name is Cordal Mhoy, of the clan Cordal. You may call me Mhoy. I am pleased to be on this undertaking with all of you and believe it will bring us great success. I have spoken with our Captain. He tells me that the pirates seem to be hitting non-traditional targets: medical ships and the like. I believe we might have some success beginning with a decoy."

Corine nods favorably at Cordal. "What's your plan, Cordal?"

Cordal Mhoy |

Corine nods favorably at Cordal. "What's your plan, Cordal?"
"Once we arrive on Cloud City it should be no matter to charter a small freighter and put forth the story that we are carrying vital medical supplies bound for the Outer Rim. We should be able to forge manifests, a shipping trail and the like. I believe the pirates will come to us."

Corine takes a moment to mule over Cordals words, averting her eyes as she thinks it over. "Any intelligence on the pirates numbers when they attack?"

"First things first Mhoy." interjects Moma before things get rolling too quickly. He introduces the rest of the guests to Mhoy so that everyone is aquainted.
"Now that we have the preliminaries out of the way, let us begin to expand on that plan. We know what the captain has told Mhoy but let us see what we can discover via the holonet as well as our resources prior to our arrival at Bespin. Does anyone have a contact or known associates in and around our destination?
Next, I am wary of the selection of the pirate's cargo. I have seen good beings turn desperate when they have sick or wounded herdmates and don't have access to the proper medical care or supplies.
Last, I would like to begin to work as a team. The best way to do that is to train. We need to know what each other's capabilities are now, rather than later. I have seen plans vaporize to dust when shots are fired. I do not want that to happen here, now."
Moma ends his statement and slightly bows his head, lost briefly in an introspective thought.

Narmin'Tier |

It is with great consideration that Narmin takes one of the drinks as swallows it, listening as the rest chatter among each other. He supposes he isn't on duty quite yet, so it isn't exactly against protocol and the crew having a drink together certainly raises morale.
He nods as the others speak, considering their words before adding his own. "There are good points here and much to be considered. Venturing into space as a lowly freighter is sure to be a quick way to let these pirates find us, but then we had best be sure they do so on our terms. If we are in a freighter that would look a tasty target, we have limited combat abilities in ship to ship combat and have to rely on assaulting their boarding crew. This means that should they realize what is happening they can disengage and blow us out of the water. If the freighter is armed, we stand a better chance in combat, but only a foolish band of pirates would attack an obviously armed vessel and we wouldn't be sent here if they were so foolish."
"Also, we do not know if they are running a single ship or if there is a greater operation at work here. If we are boarded and they have an armed patrol ship watching the area, repelling the boarders will do little. If there are more vessels hitting the shipping lanes and we take one, that is a boon, but it will only cause them to be more wary in the future. When we arrive on world, I suggest that we learn whatever we can about these pirates. If they have a base, I would recommend hitting them there rather than letting them come to us. If we cannot discover one, then we had best ensure whatever vessel we have is capable of fighting back but doesn't look like it."
Narmin then nods his head towards the doctor. "And Dr. Falomar is correct, we should assess each others abilities and gain some cohesion as a unit while we travel. When the heat is up, each member of the team needs to know what the others are capable of and be able to trust them with their lives."

Listening to Narmin intently, Corine nods in agreement, patiently waiting for Narmin to finish. "I've been a scout for the Republic for several years. I specialize in sniping and long range recon." Corine pauses for a moment and then continues. "From what I know, we're to meet up with a Jedi Master on Bespin...I figure we'll learn more about the pirates at that point. From there we should plan accordingly."
Do we have a name for the Jedi we're to meet and a location?

OOC - I will assist anyone with a Gather Information check now. I am untrained in this skill and at +3 on this check so I would rather assist. We can do another check once we speak to our Jedi contact at Cloud City.
Also, if anyone would like to train in the Rec Room or elsewhere on the ship to gain familiarity, I will join you.

Dr Moma Falomar |

Narmin nods his head towards Corine. "Indeed. For myself, I have some officer training and have built a reasonable skill with my pistols. I know my way around a rifle, but I am certain that I have not spent anywhere near the time on the range that you have, First Scout."
After listening intently to Narmin and Corine, Moma offers "I have spent most of my life around medical supplies. I am a good field medic and I have begun training as a Jedi as well. As a people, Ithorians are pacifists - intent on saving life, in all forms. Personally, I subscribe to this philosophy but have latitude in defending those in my charge. I do not carry a weapon, with the exception of this." He opens his overcoat to reveal a shiny, cylindrical handle of a lightsaber. "I prefer to rely on the Force more than any weapon."

Corine Hallsley |

Narmin nods his head towards Corine. "Indeed. For myself, I have some officer training and have built a reasonable skill with my pistols. I know my way around a rifle, but I am certain that I have not spent anywhere near the time on the range that you have, First Scout."
Cracking a slight grin, Corine says "Variety is good, Narmin. Close up skills will be useful...during ship to ship boarding."
Corine then turns to Doctor Falomar. "No contacts on Bespin, Doctor Falomar, but I'll join in a training session."
My Gather Information skill is fittingly horrible, but I'll aid another if someone wants to use it. 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6 Surprise surprise...I know nothing :)

Tobler Ceel |

Tobler draws a blaster pistol and begins to absentmindedly twirl it. "Now for mesa, eh? Well, yousa want man found, mesa can do that. You want man captured, mesa can do that, for the right price. Yousa want man dead..." Tobler stops twirling his pistol and looks into the middle distance, deep in thought. "Well, yousa better have a damn good reason then."

Here is my Gather Information check as an assist for someone else's roll.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

Narmin'Tier |

I have a +9 on my gather info, so that should help some when that comes up.
Also, DM, are there any knowledges that may help us know a bit about Bespin, the areas that are getting hit, or maybe even the pirates in general? I have a handful of knowledges, and I figure galactic lore or social sciences might give some information about those things. Not sure if we know where they have hit ships recently, but would tactics be useful at all to determine a region where they might hit next?

Narmin'Tier |

Narmin nods his head towards Tobler approvingly. "A tracker, excellent. Those skills will certainly come in handy to ensure that we round up all the pirates and none get away to start a new faction."
He then turns towards the Ithorian and will bow his head in respect. "I hold both jedi and medical technicians in great esteem. It is an honor to have you as part of the team."

Dr Moma Falomar |

Mhoy nods at the exchange, still smiling. "I am a diplomat, trained in the ways of the Jedi. I may be of some small use in this mission, I hope."
"Nice to meet a fellow user of the Force" states Moma as he gives a nod of respect to Mhoy.
"So that narrows down some of the combat specifics, do we have anyone who can pilot a vessel or repair anything mechanical?" offers Moma inquisitively.

Dokal Ren |

"My talents lie primarily with computers, and accessing them... discreetly... but I'm a serviceable pilot. Zip can also fill that role in a pinch." Glancing forlornly at his now empty beaker, the Nautolan sets it down and continues. "I'll start digging through the HoloNet once we have access to a receiver. Unless this tug's equipped with one, that is, in which case I can get to work now."
"As for any other talents I may have, I know how to tell which end of a blaster to point away from my friends. Though I'd rather stay out of sight so I don't have to use one at all. I can hold my own in a conversation, and half the time I even know what I'm talking about. Zip's also got a fair history database in his memory banks."

Nodding in approval, Corine mutters "Bases seem to be covered...and you can never have too many Jedi...", half out loud and half to herself.

Dr Moma Falomar |

"I have some small skill as a pilot, the consequence of a nomadic upbringing. Doctor, perhaps you and I might spar? I have spent too much time in trance these days and not enough in the care of my body."
"If you feel the need to abuse your elders, then we can spar. I have devoted myself more to the mental arts than the physical ones. I would like to train some as a team as well so that I can coordinate some of my powers in different, more creative ways. It is easy to lift a power generator when it doesn't fight back." offers Moma.
"Anyone care for more brandy? Not quite Ithorian Mist, but it does in a pinch." muses Moma cordially.

"Come, Doctor. You are not so old! I am told by Master Skywalker that Master Yoda himself was a master duelist well into his later years. Besides, it will pass the time and allow us to better our skills. Even with the Force, it is always a good idea to have a back up!"
