I'm very psyched about Kingmaker and am finding it difficult to wait until March! Can you guys give us any hints on what type of monsters will be the major threat in the first volume? Goblins? Kobolds? Something new?
Sure... here's five major foes that appear in "Stolen Land:"
If you're a ranger, the best choices for favored enemy at low level would be human, reptilian humanoid, fey, vermin, or animal. Those choices will stay good choices throughout the campaign, I suspect, with giant and monstrous humanoid becoming more useful at higher levels.

Awesome. Thanks James.
BTW, when will see goblins again? You guys had such a great take on them in RotRL, it'd be cool to see them again.
We throw goblins into adventures now and then; there's some here and there in Council of Thieves. But for the most part goblins are a temperate coastal-dwelling race. If/when we go back to Varisia, or maybe the land of the Linnorm Kings or Nisroch or western Cheliax there'll be more goblins.

It would be interesting to see a map of Golarion that had highlighted areas showing where various monstrous humanoid races (and really any monster) was most prevalent.
It would. But there's hundreds, if not thousands of types of monsters on Golarion. A map like that is unfortunately not very feasible. It also unnecessarily limits design options. It's much better just to list a monster's generic environment and leave it at that.
