Anyone know any good D&D apps? Tomorrow I'm retiring my old Black Berry Curve so I'm trying to build up my app list. :)

I've seen a few nice dice rollers, but not much stands out so far. Hopefully someone else will have found some cool stuff.

If you search for '3.5e' you'll find a pretty decent experience calculator. It divides the experience between all party members though, so you'll still have to calculate when someone gets individual XP. I like it pretty well still even with that shortcoming. It helps me keep a running total of everyone's XP and levels.

A generic search for 'd20' or 'dungeons' brings up several interesting choices... and way too many dice rollers :) I prefer to roll real dice personally.

Still waiting on Paizo's app. Hopefully it won't be too much longer.

I'd really like an adventure finder app that lists all the adventures from all companies into a nice catalogue. :)

There is a DM tracker app that is pretty nice but I think it is for 4e. It works ok for 3.5 for tracking who's turn it is and AC and hit points.

RPG Grimoire gives you the srd spells for the spell caster on the go.

XP Calculator is a neat idea but I don't need it.
Lots of dice programs. Those are nice for rolling impulse characters. :)
RPG Grimoire is a neat idea BUT since I have GoodReader I can keep normal PDFs on my iphone and read them as is or in plain text format. :)

My first version of the Pathfinder Reference Document is out now as an iPhone app!

Complete with races, classes, feats, skills, spells, magic items and even monsters!

My d20 Rules app (for 3.5e) is also available now http://itunes.apple.com/no/app/d20-rules/id368796548?mt=8. It contains the complete package of core, monsters, epic, psionics, divine and variant rules.

This all sounds fine, and well, and good ... seems like a marvelous idea to be able to have a little more convienence than having a PDF on my laptop - which is typically more convenient for me, since it's bookmarked, searchable, et al.

This all sounds great ... until one sees that unlike the majority of the most common apps found on the iPhone, it COSTS FIVE DOLLARS!! Now, i'm not a penny pinching miser by any means when it comes to paying for gaming stuff ... it's where the largest majority of my expendable income goes ... but for an iPhone app - it's just ridiculous. Not to say that there's not many others that expensive (or more so), but the average people with an iPhone that I know (including me) will spend .99 or a dollar on an app, and for a good one will spend $1.99 or even $2.99 ... the $4.99 for this app is insane. If it was custom software or did something cool, I might could see it. But it's a generic iPhone UI, that looks about like every other, and what's more, it's all the Open Gaming SRD stuff ... it's not even anything that had to be hand written or anything.

In sum, I don't care *how* cool it would be to have the Pathfinder rules stuff on my iPhone, this is *entirely* not worth the price. I'll just get a free PDF reader, and read the rules straight from my iPhone anyway.

Thanks, but, no thanks.

Thanks! I appreciate any and all insight that people have to offer. Even when I get the feeling that I'm being yelled at :-)

Only you know what's worth what to you. It's impossible to argue with that. Luckily for a poor solo developer, the feedback I get from people who have actually tried out the app indicates that not everybody measures worth of software by principle (no app is worth more than this or that), but rather weigh cost vs. benefit.

Also worth noting is that I spent a lot of time on the Pathfinder version, so giving it away for $1 was not an option. The d20 Rules app, on the other hand, was quick to implement since I had already assembled the framework for the previous app, so I'm selling it for $1.

Please, don't misunderstand. I have paid in excess of $20 for a app, because the benefit of it far outweighed the cost. The point that I think is being missed is that this program isn't packed with extras, or amazing tricks that it can do. It's basic. It's really great and it's nice looking. But there isn't anything in it that should justify that proce. Other than, as you implied, you just didn't want to because you'd spent time on it.

You even made specific point of saying that since you didn't have to do anything for the D20 version, you set it at a reasonable price. Imagine that.
But, this was never really intended to become a debate with you. It was posted to let other people know that it's not really worth it in my opinion. And that the reviews are full of people justifying having spent that much.
So, if you've little interest in simply letting a man have his say, and are interested in making this into a debate, by all means - go ahead and get the last word ... there's no one to stop you. And surely you'll be making a fantastic reputation for your product.
