OK,
Im running a Pathfinder game for the first time and have a question concerning XP awards.
In the old system with a group of 4 10th level adventurers fighting the following critters each individula got:
CR5 critter 500 (/4= 125xp)
CR10 critter 3,000 (/4- 750xp)
CR15 critter 18,000 (/4= 4,500xp)
In the Pathfinder system
CR5 1,600 (/4= 400xp)
CR10 9,600xp (/4= 2,400xp)
CR15 51,200 (/4= 12,800 xp)
There seems an awfully big gap between the two systems especially as you start getting towards the bigger monsters. I'm getting the Pathfinder XP awards from the CR table on p398.
Am I figuring this out wrong? if I am could someone tell me how much the group of 4 10th level adventurrers SHOULD get for fighting monster of those CR?
Thank you

The actual XP gained from encounters has changed, and it gets much more pronounced at higher levels. The same number of encounters per level are the norm, at least for the "fast" progression, just the numbers have changed a bit.
Pathfinder couldn't use the same numbers, and in the revised system its easier to actually use an encounter budget.

Ahhh, I stupidly just now looked at the differences between the fast level progression and the old D&D progression the old way it would take 10,000 xp to level and the fast chart in Pathfinder it take almost 30,000... so I see what they did.... I think thanks : ) (Either way it would take about 3 encounters with CR 15 critters to level our level 10 adventurers)
May I ask... How fast do people usually level in your games. Level per game? Do you use the the Fast/Medium/Slow progression? Which progression do you like most?
Thanks again.
