Hello, I rarely post here, and haven't posted a build before. I've played computer/console RPGs for quite a few years, but I've just started with PFRPG and tabletops in general. I would post this in the general PFRPG section, but the Level 12 max seems significant (I play in PFS).
---------------------------------
Anyways, here's my current build:
Halfling Ranger(2)
Str 12
Dex 18
Con 13
Int 10
Wis 12
(Note: this may be a little off, don't have my character sheet in front of me.)
Feats:
Point-Blank Shot
Precise Shot
Weapon:
MW Composite Longbow +1
Various utility skills that most of my fellow players lack.
---------------------------------
My question is, considering that I DO supply a good few of my party's needed skills, could someone give me a pros/cons list of a Fighter vs a Ranger, both Archer-type builds?
I've been thinking of going to Fighter as I think I would be better in combat that way, but I would lack some skills... Any opinions on this?
Thanks in advance :)

Other members may disagree with me, but here are my thoughts:
If you want to get some real good advice on how to 'tweak' a build to be optimized, the Pathfinder Society discussion area is not the best place. You will be better off posting in the general RPG forum than here. Some guy named Treantmonk wrote some great articles on class optimization, try checking out his stuff and you should get some solid advice.
Since you are talking 'build' and did not mention role-play or character background, the first thing I'd question is why choose a halfling? You're going to lose a lot of hitting power with that race. Yes, you get better accuracy being small sized and dextrous but that's not as big a goal in the build game as damage is. The best archer I have ever seen in PFS was a half orc with a 20 strength at 1st level (of course the guy never roleplays his 7 Int & 7 Wis either). He's now 10th level and combats are considered to drag if the second round is reached. If you have role-play reasons for making a halfling then I would stick with your original idea. It looks good and personally I like to hobble myself with a few PC disadvantages to make the game more interesting. However, if you are trying to make a badass damage-dealing archer whose arrows leave exit wounds then you should reconsider your race and your relatively low strength.
And I remind you that this is just an opinion :)

I played an elf ranger in LG from 1 thru 13th level. Good in combat, very good in utilty for the party, but not a good 'face'.
If you haven't started playing the character yet, increase you str. Your str score stinks. An archer's ability to dammage is tied up in his bow. You need a good str bonus on your bow. I had dex 18 and str 16, but my con was only 10. I survived. By higher levels I was shooting 4 or 5 arrows a round. That's 8 or 10 more HP dammage each and every round. It adds up quick. Also, what's your cha?
There are many advantages with sticking with one class. Every level you get either a bonus HP or skill point if it's your favorite class. Also, you can get to the higher level abilities quicker.
Fighter gets you all the fighter only weapon specilization feats, and bonus combat feats, but no skills. More of a combat specialist than a utiltiy character.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the responses so far guys! Unfortunately I HAVE already been playing this character (I think I'm one game away from third level...), but I've been thinking about either scrapping this guy, or making an additional one.
About the halfling choice: I really had no idea what I was doing at character creation, and the event co-ord. suggested a halfling. I didn't know anything about any other races so I went with that :) lol
I'm sorry, I made a mistake on my stats:
Wis 10
Cha 12
I believe :)
Keep 'em coming!

Did you have fun playing this character? If you did, then just go with it. Keep playing him. A few mistakes during creation does not make a character without a use. But archery may not be his forte.
If you aren't enjoying this character, then cut your losses and start a new one. Just make sure you are satisfied with the direction you're going to take the new PC in. Check out this link to Treantmonk's Guide to Ranger Optimization.
