Making Posts About How Others' Ideas Are Stupid Is Really Stupid.

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Some people like to break a game system down mechanically, and like to share their thoughts and discuss their ideas with other like-minded individuals. None of these people are here to tell you that the way you play your game is incorrect, and that you are participating in having "badwrongfun".

Specifically in regards to the Class Tier discussion; this is simply a way of examining the potential capabilities of a class in comparison to the potential of other classes. Just because you allow one of your players to play a Wizard does not mean they are telling you that your player is going to break your game, and that you are a terrible DM for allowing that.

+1 :)

Actually, I am.

[rant]I knew what this thread was about before I even opened it and I agree. Bolding potential won't help you get your point across, because the minute you(general statement)use numbers you are labeled as a powergamer who can't roleplay, and the obvious statement of "everyone's game is different" is made.

I guess they expect posters to account for every possible gaming groups' play style, and then post. I(general statement)am making a post. I will make general statements, and you can apply it to you group as you see fit. Take what you need/like/applies, and throw the rest away.

Even if it does not apply to your group it gives you an idea of how the class works. That way won't be surprised if you end up in a different group and class X, which was awesome in your old group, becomes the 5th wheel.[/rant]

PS: Maybe I should have posted this in a relevant thread.

<Kicks the poodle>

Good Riddance.

Are you being sarcastic or are you posting the pot for being black?

That works as long as people are willing to make allowances. However, some do indeed insist that others are playing the game wrong.

I got told that sometime last year(?) and have been making fun of it since. Whenever I end up on the wrong side of the conversation, I start saying "But don't take my word for it, since apparently I am not playing the same game as everyone else."

Running the numbers is tons of fun, and does illuminate the conversation with easily-compared variables. The Wraithstrike post on that was excellent.

That'll learn 'em!

Mr. Fishy...swims away.

Admittedly, the thread that caused the birth of this thread should have been entitled "Here's why I don't like the Tiering system" or something else less confrontational.

You've said your peace, and now this thread is done. Let's avoid this quirky tit-for-tat, shall we?
