I could really use some help with this one. Last night at our regularily scheduled gaming session my players gave me an $80 gift certificate for the local movie theatre. Nice! I'd like to do gifts for each of the players, but I'm not sure what D&D type (or roleplaying in general) gifts to give. I'd like to keep my costs down to about $20/player (I have 6 players, so the sky is definitely not the limit). Players range in age from early twenties to mid thirties.
What are the other DMs out there doing in this regard?

Those are some great players. How long as the group been together?
As for gifts, I'd recommend a nice dice set for each player.

Yeah, they are a great bunch. We started the group up in June of last year. I like the idea of dice for each, but at least two members of the group have dice habits (dozens of sets already). I thought of dice rolling cups, but they seem to be hard to come by.
Thanks for the idea. Maybe this wouldn't be so hard if I hadn't procrastinated!

One idea: Dice Boxes (pick up treasure-chesty style boxes from Pier 1 or Hobby Lobby). They look nice and are fairly unique.
Usually, I give an Xmas Xp bonus as well, especially if we play near Christmas.

I like the XP bonus, I admit that it hadn't crossed my mind. Good idea about the boxes. They would be a big improvement over the ratty bags that most of us carry around.

You can get unfinished, wooden trays of all different sizes and felt at nearly any hobby store. Stain or paint the tray and glue the felt to the bottom.
You may even be able to find unfinished, wooden cups.
Hobby Lobby always has tiny chests that look like treasure chests which I think would make great gaming accessories.

Thanks for all the great ideas so far. I live in a small town, so my hobby store selection is limited, but I can travel if it comes right down to it. I also paint miniatures. Do you think a hand painted miniature for each player would be alright, or with PCs dying from time to time, would it be worth the effort?
Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. Please keep them coming! What have you done in the past?

How about a different Planet Stories book for each player? If you can't get them shipped in time for your next session, you can print out the Paizo product info for each book and give it to them with a note that the actual book will arrive soon.
A few recommendations:
The Dark World
Robots Have no Tails
Black God's Kiss
Elak of Atlantis
Sword of Rhiannon
Northwest of Earth
If they enjoy them, they can swap books throughout the year.

Painted miniatures, especially with favorite characters, are always great (if only for keepsakes), and work to make the players play smarter, to boot! I'm the miniature painter in my group, so someone giving me one would be fantastic. Or, maybe you could paint a 'monster' version of favorite characters. Those could be useful for the whole group, too.
A craft store might have cups or trays (which might be really useful for players), as well as some DIY ideas.
Lots of knick-knacky places sell boxes as well. You might even be able paint up some personalized plastic boxes (like pencil boxes) from school supplies or office stores.
One more idea, you could put together a 'game kit' that's fairly inexpensive. A few nice mechanical pencils, a personalized folder, a bag or box, a graph paper composition book, and maybe top it off by pulling some tables relevant to their characters from the SRD and printing them off on a nice piece of cardstock (if that's not ok, by all means, let me know!) so that they have 'player reference sheets'.
Just brainstorming, you fail a lot of perception checks before you find the ring hidden under the stone on the staircase.

When one of my groups was approaching end-game, I tried to get Order of the Stick-style avatars of their characters created to present to them. (I couldn't agree with the artist volunteers so it didn't happen.)
I've been given dice and character-appropriate miniatures in the past, and I have done paint jobs for birthdays.

Makarnak wrote:lots of great stuffThe "gamer kit" is a fantastic idea. Very usable and easy to compile. Really like it.
Glad you like it! I kind of found myself wishing I'd put it together for my players...
I love the gamer kit idea too. I'd totally add Cheetos and a can of Mountain Dew to each one.
As long as it's a 2-liter! Mmmm...mountain dew...
Game appropriate snacks are a great idea, too, especially included in the kit. Hmm... Of course, I always dispose of the oodles of Christmas goodies on game night. One could even get rid of fruitcake on a good game night.
