I will not be a PaizoCon. Not this year, and perhaps never. It simply costs too damn much to fly across the country. Hell, I'm even rethinking our annual Fly-home-for-Christmas trips each December.

Nothing in particular. It's just that every now and then I get fed up with the mindless bureaucracy, idiotic policies, and reptitive nonsense.
And, I am increasingly frustrated by my being pigeonholed into some kind of limbo-like project manager for the suckiest projects that either no one else wants or they've already screwed up and are trying to pawn off. I'd much rather be doing some actual engineering, which is what I went to school for in the first place.
What set all this off today was a list my boss sent around of who would be acting branch heads for this year. The list includes all GS-13s, which I should be already (long story). The fact that the list covers the rest of the year seems to indicate (in my perhaps warped and fragile mind) that he has no plans on giving me my promotion anytime this CY.
