Pathfinder Cherry-Pick

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

A request of my fellow Paizo-fans!

At present, I do not have the opportunity to run a Pathfinder AP. I have two campaigns that I'm running and for the moment, none of my players wish to "start over" as it were.

Economic times being what they are, I had to cancel my AP subscription a while back (hoping to restart it in 2010). Despite these issues, I love the AP format as much for the setting content as the adventures themselves.

What I'm considering doing is modifying existing campaigns to incorporate elements from the APs rather than the storylines of the APs.

So, for a GM who wants to cherry-pick locations, setting info, monsters, etc. from APs (or other Pathfinder products), what products/sections/topics would you recommend and why?

Note: I've got the full RotRL & CotCT APs and Pt1 of Second Darkness.

Thanks!

Not trying to state the obvious, but ...

Since this was a "any PF product" thread, I put it in the General Discussion rather than under a specific AP. I don't wish to ruin anyone's fun, so if it's possible to make your recommendations without spoilers, I'm guessing my fellow GMs who are running the APs would appreciate it.

Also, I'm as interested in recommendations in terms of theme and tone of the setting info as much as fluff & crunch. My adult group runs towards the M/PG13-R scale and my campaign for my son doesn't go above a Harry Potter film PG-13.

Again, thanks in advance.

Howl of the Carrion King (Legacy of Fire) is really fun and very well adapted to low level D&D play.

Legacy of Fire Spoiler:
The Pugwampis especially are a good time and it is nice to be a king slayer by level 2. The fights are challenging but not as random as low level fights usually are. You really fight the room itself rather than its inhabitants.

I would also recommend the Savage Tide Isle of Dread stuff.

Well, ROTR can easily be adapted to any campaign, if you just replace the Runelord Magic with whatever evil magic your campaign has at its highest levels. Pretty much any magic can influence the antagonists from the first 4 issues.

For COCT, the ancient evil there (I don;t want to spoil it) can be eliminated and it can just be the result of Found Ancient Magic.

And Second Darkness can easily work. The first adventure can be scaled for any level (gambling is always fun) and the meta-plot can be pretty much just brought in as written...

Thanks for the input, guys.

Just to clarify, though, I'm asking for recommendations other than the story of the adventure. More along the lines of "the bad guys building their base inside a statue's head made for a great lair", "the article on <insert name of deity> in PF# Y gave great info on the church structure", or "the setting info on Magnimar is good", etc. I'm looking at cherry-picking parts of individual APs rather than picking and running, say, part 3 of a 6-part AP.
