Questions about Linnorm?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

I have a few questions about the Linnorm Kings. I do not have any of the setting books of yet, though I am working on that, and was wondering if I could get a basic rundown on them.

1. From what I have found they are based on the Vikings.

2. Based on the fact that what I have found mentions Kings it is not one unified kingdom but a group of smaller ones that are in competition with each other.

3. What is the physical description for the Linnorm? Anything specific or as a standard human?

4. What are the best book/books to find out more information about them?

Any help would be appreciated as I am working on a character to use in RotRL and I saw that Linnorm barbarians are in the area.

That is exactly what I am looking for King of Vrock, you rock!

Scarab Sages

Just as an aside, the flag for the area, and the description of them in the Campaign Setting, states they are dragons with no rear legs, and vestigial wings.
The Bestiary (the more recent source) updates them to having no wings at all, but flying due to innate magical ability.

This area of Golarion is one I am very keen to see a source book for and hopefully future AP.

Also a good idea to scour/search the boards for some titbits of info that people have posted - trait ideas etc...

Dragon 356 also had an excellent Ecology of the Linnorm article that gives these beasts tons of flavour - as a fully paid up norseophile I highly recommend it!

Riddleport's a good home base for a Varisia based Ulfen, have had a couple of northmen character PC/NPC concepts hail from there... everything from Warrior Skalds to a Rune Toothed Sea Reaver!

and if your looking for miniatures to represent them - you can't get better than Tre Manor's Red Box Games Njorn and Helsvakt

Hope this helps!

Oh yeah! I've professed this a number of times, but I have no qualms with giving my enthusiastic support of this idea again.

Those are indeed some great minis. Are they metal or plastic?

Thanks

They're metal. I'm using Njal as the miniature for my Linnorm Kings barbarian Ostog the Unslain in James Jacob's bi-weekly staff Pathfinder campaign (which we're playing tonight!).

Thank you.

I've been looking for the right mini for my Viking-esque barbarian Frostrazor whom I portrayed for a couple years straight till about 12th level when the DM had had enough of us. But I'm always looking to reinvent him for new campaigns. One of these minis just might work!

Enjoy your game tonight

Thank you all for the additional info. I have seen Tre's work beofre and really like it. I also like what he has done with Reaper as well. With all this info I have what I need for my character. I would like to see a book about this area. Any chances of an area that is based roughly on the Irish Celts?

Thank you all.

Not that I can think of per se, and Ive just finished reading through the nations part of the Campaign setting. I think they have sorta wrapped the Ulfen into a combination of the more wild ancient Earth cultures.

Im also not a fan of settings drawing too many comparisons back to real Earth cultures, which is why I like the strange realms of Alkenstar and Numeria (no earth equivalents).

I'd definetly look at the Campaign setting and the Wiki for more information on the Ulfen.

I actually misspoke. The Red Box mini I am using is actually Bolverk the Bold.

You can say that again! Those minis rock!
