I wanted to take a look at the Killoren from RotW, and do a Pathfinder conversion of the race.
First thoughts.....
Fey type gives some immunities to certain spell effects, which combined with the Manifest Natures might are probably putting them on par with other base races....so I'm thinking it would be unbalancing to give them any ability bonus.....opinions ?
My first thought had been to grant a single +2 to any one mental ability score, and then make sure that each of the aspects was in some way tied to each of the ability scores, that would give players a reason to focus on a specific aspect much of the time.
Killoren Racial Traits:
Base Land Speed 30 feet.
Fey Type: Killoren are of the Fey type, and thus not effected by spells such as charm person and hold person.
Low-light Vision:
Immunity to magical sleep affects and a +2 racial bonus on saves against Enchantment spells or effects.
+2 racial bonus on KN (Nature) and Survival checks.
Keen Senses: Killoren receive a +2 racial bonus to perception checks.
Cold Iron Anathema (Su): Killoren have a difficult time wielding weapons made of cold iron. Killoren take a -2 penalty on any attack roll they make with a cold iron weapon or a weapon made only partially out of cold iron, such as a cold iron spear or bow firing cold iron arrows.
Manifest Nature’s Might (Su): Killoren are forever bound to the raw forces of nature itself, manifesting this bond even in their physical form. A killoren can only manifest one aspect at a time. Each morning as the sun rises, a Killoren spends 10 minutes in quiet meditation, filling her spirit with the aspect of nature that is most needed for her current tasks. Once chosen, they manifests that aspect until the next morning, when she can choose again.
Now to take a look at the Aspects......
First I looked at the Aspect of the Destroyer, as It was the easiest to compare to the existing smite ability and adjust.
Aspect of the Destroyer: This aspect embodies the true destructive power of nature. With it, you may make a smite attack ( a number of times a day equal to your Charisma bonus ) that deals extra damage to foes of nature. you add your Charisma bonus to your attack roll and 1 extra point of damage per Hit Die.
Your smite attacks automatically by-pass any DR the creature may possess. This attack only works against aberrations, constructs, humanoids, oozes, outsiders and undead.
In addition, while smite is in effects, you gain a deflection bonus equal to your charisma modifier (if any) to your AC against attacks made by the target of your smite.
While manifesting this power, your hair and eye's turn jet black, many find the gaze of a Killoren Destroyers eyes, to be unnerving.
I think that is a good solid racial ability, without being unbalancing, however now the problem.....
Both the other aspects fall really flat.
Any ideas or suggestions as to how to make the other two aspects as desirable ?
