Boost for the Sorcerer

Homebrew and House Rules

I know that there has been some discussion on whether the sorcerer is on par with the wizard. I know that there has been disagreement on this issue. I think that the sorcerer could use a little boost, and I was wondering what people think of the following.

It's quite simple. Give the sorcerer the medium BAB progression (with the corresponding d8 HD). While the sorcerer will still lag behind the wizard in terms of spellcasting, she'll at least be a little bit more hardy, plus have a better chance of hitting with those spells that require an attack roll.

(Note that I'm familiar with the battle sorcerer from Unearthed Arcana. That's not quite what I'm looking for here, as this is meant to be a boost rather than a variant.)

Thoughts?

Most people think the sorcerer is strong enough. The issue is that the wizard is too strong. Most of us that play sorcerers do so because wizards require a lot more book keeping, and we know the games well enough that we can choose the right spells for out sorcerers.

I dont think the boost is needed since its still one of the more powerful classes in the game.

The problem isn't with the sorceror. It's that while balancing all the classes upwards, they brought the Wizard with it. So the relative power difference between Wizard and Sorceror didn't change, the power level of the Sorceror itself did go up.

I wouldn't mind a slight bump upwards to bring them in line with their more versatile cousins. But I'm fine without it (or with a little DM love).

Sovereign Court

Kind of agreeing with these two. Sorcerers are doing pretty well for themselves with inherent bloodlines and new class abilities so BAB and such aren't needed to further push things along.

Remember that touch AC's are normally quite a bit lower then normal AC's after all.

Here is a class option I allow for Wizards in my Pathfinder homebrew. Feel free to modify it as you see fit.
.
.
.
.
Battle Mage: Your poor attack bonus is upgraded to an average attack bonus (like a bard), and you are proficient with all simple weapons and light armor. In addition you receive Arcane Armor Training as a bonus feat at first level despite the 3rd level prerequisite. At 4th level you receive Arcane Armor Mastery despite the 7th level prerequisite.
Replaces: You get one less spell slot per spell level (including cantrips). Where you get 0 spells you are only capable of casting any bonus spell slots you may have due to a high Intelligence score. Arcane Armor Mastery replaces your 4th level bonus feat.

Thanks for the feedback, all. That makes sense.

Hmmm...I really dig the concept, but the benefits might outweigh the losses.

I agree with lowering the prerequisites, but giving Arcane Armor Training as a free bonus feat might be the tipping point.
