Elven Curved Blade - Combat Modifiers

I've been going through the book to try and understand the reason why several of the character gen programs are providing me with a calculation for the Elven Curved Blade.

Most of the programs tell me that the calculation is:

BAB + Stat bonus (str or dex depending on feats, etc) + some external modifier.

For my 4th level elf ranger that gives me:

+4 BAB
+4 Dex (Weapon finesse)
for a total of +8 to hit.

But the programs are giving me:
+4 BAB
+4 Dex
-4 external modifier.
for a total of +4 to hit.

I cannot find anything in the players handbook that would give this modifier.

Is there a -4 for fighting two handed or something?

BTW, Pag 145 of the Players handbook is the notation that provides the ability to use Weapon Finesse with this two handed weapon.

I would really appreciate being able to understand why these programs are stating a -4 penalty.

If it was just one program doing this, I would call it a bug, but I've come accross at least two spreadsheets that do this. And I always want to know the reason why, and not just accept it.

No exotic weapon proficiency for it? I know that it should be considered a martial weapon (since your character is elven) but that program probably missed that.

No exotic weapon proficiency for it? I know that it should be considered a martial weapon (since your character is elven) but that program probably missed that.

Ah, that would be it, being elven, any weapon with elven in its name makes it a martial weapon (just as Orc in name gives it to orc, dwarf to dwarfs, etc)

So the program is overlooking the racial bonus that the weapon name is providing.
