If a light source is partially blocked it creates a shadow or shaded area.
So does the same apply to Deeper Darkness? If you were behind a 5ft wide wall within the area of Deeper Darkness would that wall create a "shaded area" where a regular light spell could be used to see at least a little around you so you could see enough to, say, cast from a scroll?

Basically yes, if you have sufficient cover from the object radiating the darkness the normal lighting conditions would prevail.
