Sorcerer No Limit Cantrips

Rules Questions

It would seem the Sorcerer class, which seems a bit unbalanced now, also has no limit to the amount of Cantrips it can cast daily, where as a Wizard can use only four. Is this an oversight or intentional, as there are some Cantrips that can cause damage?

Scarab Sages

A wizard can only prepare four cantrips per day but can cast each of them an infinite number of times, and can change them daily. A sorcerer still has a limit on the number of cantrips he 'knows', and can cast of them each an infinite number of times.

So...about the same really.

The sorcerer can use all his cantrips, the Wizard has to chose which ones he will use, but the ones he chooses are "infinite" too.

Why is the sorcere unbalanced in your view?

Sovereign Court

Actually the sorcerer in previous edition had about the same progression for cantrips known. Think it might even be the exact same.

They couldn't cast them infinitely, but they certainly could come close to it if they wanted too.

I think this is a great addition for 1st level up to about level 4. As an arcane caster you were either not doing anything or trying to hit something with your crossbow to reserve spells or because you were already out of spells.

About the only time that using the attack cantrips at will becomes powerful is if you couple them with sneak attack. If I was playing a rogue I would have to think about taking 1 level in sorcerer or wizard to pick up a couple of the attack cantrips to have at will ranged touch attacks to deliver sneak attack with.
