Liberty's Edge

I was checking on the summoning spells and checked this for the first time. The 9th level version has an oddly limited selection( 2 creatures), one of which is a 4 HD pixie. Once you are level 17, I don't see the need to ever summon a pixie on anything but a truly unique situation. This just seems kind of odd to me. Wondering if I am the only one that sees it like that.

Well, the Pixie does have the benefit of casting Irresistible Dance, which is a powerful, high level wizard/bard spell. Assuming it was considered cast as a sorcerer, the spell would have a will save DC of 21, which is laughably low for a 9th level druid spell. It can also pelt off sleep arrows as an invisible creature, but with a DC 15 you're pretty much hoping for a natural 1 at that level.

Yes, it's laughable, if not downright sad, but you could find some uses for it. I'm just pissed that the unicorn isn't on the list anymore, since that was one of the best summons a druid could muster.
