I can't be the only one that liked the apprentice rules from the 3.0 DMG that weren't carried over to 3.5. Has anyone tried to convert them to Pathfinder?

The gain half-a-level for multiclassing right off the bat? Nope not alone there. Should work even better in Pathfinder then it did in 3.0. One of the major issues with such a practice no longer exists (which class gets x4 skill ). Other then that it seem rather straight forward. The only other difference may be the favored class mechanic, which if you declare one of your two classes you should get it at 1st but not at 2nd.

Favored class I figure would work just skills and hit points IMHO. If you're a fighter/wizard, and go with wizard for your level 1 hit points and skill points, but you choice fighter as your favored class, then you don't get the bonus until level 2. If on the other hand your favored is wizard, and you took the hit points and skill points of the wizard, then you get the bonus. It all depends on whether your "level 1 main" is the same as your favored.

Anyone? Seeker? :)
To create a dual-class 1st level character:
1) Use half of all numerical values (do not round). After totaling such values for both classes, round up to determine the total bonus. (Ex: base attack bonus, skill points, saves, hit points, usage numbers.)2) Dice (monk unarmed damage, sneak attack, but not hit dice) are reduced by one die step (d6 becomes d4).
3) Spellcasting classes grant their normal allotment of cantrips, but half their normal allotment of 1st-level spells (round down).
4) Find your classes below to determine what class abilities you gain with a half level. Weapon and Armor proficiencies from both classes apply.
Fast Movement: No.
Bardic Performance: Yes (½ the number of rounds of performance per day).
Pick Two: Inspire Courage, Countersong, Fascinate, Distraction.
Aura: Yes.
Wild Empathy: Yes.
Nature Sense: Yes.
Alternative: The half-druid may trade use of druid spells for the Nature Bond class ability.
Flurry of Blows: Yes (Using -1/-1 as Flurry of Blows Base Attack Bonus).
Unarmed Strike: Yes.
Detect Evil: Yes.
Smite Evil: Yes (½ the bonuses, round down).
Trapfinding: Yes.
Pick One: Bloodline Power or Eschew Materials
Pick One: Arcane School or Scribe Scroll.

Ninja'd by Tom, but here's my quick take:
Fast and Filthy Apprentice Rules:
1st level Multiclass characters must choose two classes to begin play. Character must qualify for both classes. One class is chosen as primary, the other secondary.
Hit Dice: At 1st character level (ChL hereafter), per primary class. At 2nd ChL, per secondary class.
BAB: If both classes give +1 BAB at 1st class level (ClL hereafter), then +1 BAB at 1st ChL, otherwise +0.
Saves: At 1st ChL, +1 cumulative to a save when that save is given a +2 at 1st ClL.
Skills: At 1st ChL, skill points per primary class. At 2nd ChL, per secondary class. All class skills from both classes are considered class skills at 1st ChL.
Class Features:
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: At 1st ChL, character gets all weapon and armor proficienies of both classes.
Spells: For each class that provides spellcasting at 1st ClL: Character gains all 0 level spell casting abilities. Character can also cast 1 1st level spell per day (no bonus spells for high ability scores). For classes that allow for a limited number of spells known, character knows 2 1st level spells. All are cast at caster level 1.
Bonus Languages: May choose from any bonus language provided by either class at 1st ChL.
Other Class Features: May choose one 1st level feature listed under Special from each class table.
Equipment: Starting money per primary class. Character gains any equipment provided via any class feature chosen at 1st ChL. Remaining class feature equipment is aquired at 2nd ChL.
Favored Class: Character's favored class bonus is applied at 1st ChL if it matches the primary class, 2nd ChL if it matches the secondary class.
At 2nd ChL: Character is required to take the same two classes that were chosen at 1st ChL. Character gains all features of both 1st level classes as per normal multiclassing rules.
This should be extensible to most any set of base classes.

Yes, I'm a fan of these as well. I'm hoping that Jason will include an official conversion in the Advanced Player's Guide.
You should post in this thread.

Here's what I'd do:
You remember those three level advancement schedules in PRPG? Use the fast one. Okay, now anyone who wants to multiclass at first level may use the 3.0 apprentice rules for the first 1300 xp, at which time they become a gestalt. From then on, they level up using the medium schedule. The end.
