Open Call to 3rd Party Publishers - I'll support your PRPG OGC

Product Discussion

I posted an open invite in my erian_7's Excel-Based Character Sheet discussion and support thread, but realized I'd probably help out more folks if I posted here as well...

My spreadsheet is intended as a free, small resource for those that love Pathfinder RPG--in addition to serving as a character sheet, it has handy tables for feats, traits, class abilities, etc. It will always remain such, and I have already committed to having all Open Game Content released by Paizo included (since I subscribe to everything).

After a request was made in the discussion thread to add support for the Legend of the Shining Jewel material, I realized I should really support any 3rd party publishers that are also supporting Paizo and Pathfinder. As such, the LSJ folks and I have started the work to incorporate all of their OGC into the spreadsheet as well. I will gladly do the same for any 3PP folks upon request. While I don't have any 3PP material on hand (my limited budget is dedicated to Paizo at this time), I will readily accept any OGC for integration. Any interested parties can jump into the discussion thread to let me know, or else email me at the below. Thanks, both for your time in reading this and for supporting Pathfinder!

Hey Erin,

We'd love for the Shaman to be included. I'll send you the PDF. What else would you need from us?

Well, as long as I can access the OGC I can put it in place. The LSJ folks sent me the PDF and are also doing a lot of data entry, but they have a massive amount of info (feats, new classes, new domains, etc.) so that was the best way to get things going. For a single class, it shouldn't be any problem for me to build in the info.

Thanks!

Eric

A great response from several publishers so far! I wasn't really sure how popular this idea would be, but in light of the response and to ensure folks know I'm serious, I'll be looking to turn around all material received today within the next release (I try to hit one release per week). I'm also thinking on the best way to properly highlight the sources for this material (I want to encourage folks to buy the 3PP material after all!) and also to allow folks control over what data sources are used for the sheet.

Also as a general note, I follow OGC fairly strictly, so if your product declares things like deities, etc. as Product Identity (which I'd expect!) I won't include such without specific direction from the publishers. LSJ, for instance, did their own data entry and included several deity names in the Domain information, so I'm good with that but I wouldn't add other campaign-specific items within express written permission from them. Basically, I'll follow whatever direction is desired but do intend to keep this resource as legal and OGC-compliant as a non-lawyer can! And as with any other feedback, suggestions/concerns regarding proper use of OGC are welcome if anyone spots a problem.

Hyrum, I've got the Shaman mostly in place, but wanted to run a few things by you. Can you email me so I can start a little side discussion?

Thanks!

I really enjoyed the shaman they came up with. It really grabs the flavor of a shaman

Yes, it's a very interesting class. I'm happy I can support it in my next release (look for it this week--just giving the companies some time to respond to draft copies).

See this post for an updated version of my character sheet that includes all 11 Remarkable Races from Alluria Publishing, the bardic/wizard colleges, bloodlines, feats, and domains and such from 4 Winds Fantasy's Book of Arcane Magic and Book of Divine Magic. The Legend of the Shining Jewel races have been cleaned up a bit, and I've started the process for automating the Aristocrat, Noble, and Temptress classes for that living campaign. I'm still working on some of the Shaman class (from Super genius Games) ability automation with the author, but the full class will be in the final released version I send up to the Pathfinder Database.

Thanks to all these fine 3rd party publishers for making this content available...if you like what you see, go buy their products! This should be a great opportunity for folks to "try before you buy" on these, and I guarantee you there's a lot more useful material in their products than what I can capture in this character sheet.

Once we release the Psionics Handbook material for Pathfinder that we are working on, it will all be released under a wide Open Gaming License, letting you use everything we make in that.

Thanks, I'll definitely support anything I can. I'm betting the LSJ folks will be very happy to get psionics support going...

I have sent the "final" file with material from all contributing publishers up to the Pathfinder DB for posting. Of course, it's still a beta and I'll happily incorporate any future contributions. This exercise did stretch the sheet a bit--it now accommodates races from Fine to Colossal (thanks to the kval...) for instance. So, thanks to all that have contributed to date, and please any new (or previous) interested parties feel free to contact me regarding adding OGC to the next release.
