What software would I need to make a form fillable pdf?

Like the title of this post I'd like to know what software would be necesary to make a form fillable pdf, possibly also with autogenerating fields? I realize they're plenty of free pdf creation packages out there but I don't know if those will allow the little extras that I'm looking for.

I want to make some monster stat cards and other similar things. I've seen several versions by other people but none of them quite encompass what I want. So if I can I figure I'll just make my own.

Sheesh, is that really the only software out there that can do that?

Foxit has a version that can do it, but you have to pay for it.
The thing about Foxit is that it loads up faster than Adobe, a lot faster on my PC, but if the same file is left up for hours it will crash, and sometimes the file will close as soon as its open, but that is rare.

Thanks, I think this will do nicely.

Ok, so I'm teaching myself how to use Scribus and it's going well so far. I've figured out how to do the layout I want and how to create form fillable spots for when it's saved as a PDF. However I'm having trouble figuring out how to set it up so that when I save my work as a PDF I'll be able to fill in forms and then "save as" to create a copy to print later. How do I do that? I'm assuming it's possible but maybe I'm wrong.

Viola! Found a way to be able to save entered text. Can't do it with Adobes Acrobat Reader, but if I open it with the Foxit reader it will allow me to save the file with the inputed fields.

Hooray!
