Greetings!
Please help me. :)
This thread will follow my PFRPG players through the prime material plane in a multi-world mini-campaign arc for about 8-10 months. We begin in Blackmoor...
This week, I need a concise wicked cool adventure set in Blackmoor. I have the Zeitgeist d20 campaign setting book if you have suggested pages I should check out?
Their first stop is to fight their way out of the Blackmoor Castle dungeon. They're seeking the soul of a PC who lost it to the Deck of Many Things (Void). The soul was sold by black market to a Thoon Hulk who has evicted the Lord of Blackmoor Castle, pissing him off royally. They begin inside the dungeon, and must find the PCs soul, and exit.
If the PCs survive battles with the creatures, collect the soul, and exit the dungeon King Uther will provide them knowledge that the Come Back Inn basement has a precious stone beneath it that sometimes causes folks from different placed to enter the Inn (a portal). However, he does not know how to make it work to help the PCs leave. [So I need a mini-quest/adventure idea to plug in here.] My request: I want to inspire the PCs to help King Uther complete a quest. Upon completion they will find the way back (The actual exit can be any door way portal of any kind.)
I need your help to quickly decide what would be an awesome quest/adventure/story to plug-in here in Blackmoor?? Should I involve the Egg of Coot or its thralls, or something else? I'm hoping to quickly and effectively immerse my players in the feel and richness of the setting before they go. What essentials should they/could they experience before they go?
If you like helping with this sort of thing, stay tuned, because I will be asking for help with future stops to Eberron, Oerth, Golarion, Sigil, and Athas (or others) before they get home next summer.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

Easily one of the most interesting things about Blackmoor is the Egg of Coot, spell-eggs, and thralls and such. You might have them root one of the Egg's thralls out of the Temple of the Frog or some-such.

Outside of its tongue-in-cheek reference to E.G.G., where would I find the defininative description/stats for the Egg of Coot?
Maybe, one of the Egg's thralls is said to possess a "magic dust" that when sprinkled over a monolith, such as the one beneath the Come Back Inn, will open a doorway to another world within the Prime. Nice.
I don't have a print copy of the Temple of the Frog. Assuming, the original module already transpired with some other adventuring party, how/what would you have as the main thread within the temple?? I think I have maps of it, or can easily adapt my game mat to a temple layout.
Thoughts?
Here is the adventure so far:
I. Defeat Thoon Hulk and Evil Priest assistant and Minotaur guardians
>>>A. Exit dungeon
>>>B. Meet Lord Uther - He advises to seek out monolith beneath Come Back Inn
>>>C. Learn of Come Back Inn Monolith
>>>D. Come Back Inn Proprietor only lets folks leave if they do him a favor, so 1 PC will need to leave on a mini-solo adventure.
>>>E. PC leave Come Back Inn with knowledge of the Egg's Thrall in some locale (maybe Temple of Frog, or just some Temple near Frog Lake.)
II. PC solo Adventure
>>>A. Spotlight on 1 PC, whichever hasn't gotten a lot of face time recently.
>>>B. Need to defeat some creature from the Pathfinder Bestiary in order to protect a friend of the Come Back Inn Proprietor.
III. Temple Assault
>>>A. Thinking the battle takes place outdoors (since the PCs just completed a dungeon, this would vary scenery a bit.
>>>B. Beasties are swamp thingys, Giant Frogs, and of course the Thrall.
>>>C. PC return to the Come Back Inn and sprinkle the newly found dust on the monolith and the portal opens.
IV. The PCs are asked to stay in Blackmoor to help protect the area. This would provide any PC who wishes to "retire" their character an opportunity to do so, and begin a new one. I doubt, however anyone will select this option.
Okay - so ..... Maybe I am all set for this week? Any enhancements or thoughts?
