Cleric of Asmodeus

My DM is running an evil campaign my character is a LE cleric of Asmodeus. What I am looking for are ideas for a contract that would be signed by the party leader regarding my membership in the party. I am also looking for a spell that would make said contract binding I know I have seen such a spell but now I can't find it.

The modern world intrudes on gaming!!:) Wouldn't the notion of the signature itself not being 'binding' be more insulting than it might be worth, and wouldn't the consequences of breaking it be bad enough to contemplate? I mean, I'd think at the least that the thought of the irate, vendetta-minded cleric of Asmodeus being after me for breach of contract would be sufficient motivation to hold up my end.

I dunno, I'm not trying to criticize, and I could see something compulsory like that adding an element to the rp of the game, but then again I could see it being annoying as hell to a player, depending.

Well, in fairness I believe he means binding as in there will be automatic consequences if you break it, not that he is compelled to keep it.

I do have an option for you though, copied and pasted out of Crystal Keep's magic item file.

What you are looking for is a Contract of Nepthas (Complete Arcane page 148) They cost 1400gp

If either party breaks the contract he/she is subject to a curse that strikes him/her blind, deaf and mute (no save).

Bestow Curse has a 'write your own' clause at the end and can be very useful for stuff like this. Just add a condition to the curse, 'If you do X, then you suffer Y.'

Ok I started writing one so here it is feel free to use this for your own characters if you like it and make suggestions it is still a work in progress.

I Arthur Redbud, here after referred to as the cleric, do agree to provide the following services to ____________________, here after referred to as the client. For a period of no less than one (1) month and not to exceed (6) months.

The cleric agrees to provide:

1.Magical healing and mundane medical care for the client and other members of his party (see Appendix I)
a.Healing includes repair of physical damage, restoration, and curse removal to the best of the cleric's ability.

2.Combat to all threats to and enemies of the client that do not present a conflict of interest or violation of faith to the cleric.
a.Conflicts of interest include but are not limited to: Followers of the church of Asmodeus and those under their protection, Heralds, Avatars, or companions of any deity, or outsider above the rank of duke, Creatures greater than 20 ft in height or without a known means of being slain or banished

3.An equal share of all basic camp duties. Including setting camp, gathering fodder, cooking, cleaning, and standing watch.

4.Basic divination as available.

5.Beneficial enchantment of party members.

The client stipulates to the following:

1.All decisions concerning specific spells cast by the cleric will be at the discretion of the cleric.

2.The cleric is entitled to make any provisions he deems necessary to preserve his own life and standing with his patron deity.

3.When ever compatible with the safety and security of the party the cleric will be allowed eight (8) hours of rest and time for prayers each day.

4.The cleric will have veto power over the inclusion of other divine spell casters in the party.

5.The cleric will not be required to perform any duties that conflict with his religious beliefs.

6.The cleric will be allowed to view and/or compose any contracts that
would be considered binding on the party as a whole and to veto any contracts that would conflict with this contract

7. In the event of his death if physically possible resurrection services will be provided and the cost divided evenly among the party in no less than one month. Time spent dead will be counted as one half (½) time for the purposes of compensation.

I _____________________ agree to provide the following compensation to the cleric or, in the event of his death, if resurrection is not feasible, the church of Asmodeus along with at least 1 square inch of the clerics corpse.

1.1200 gp per month

2.The right of first refusal on all magical divine scrolls, wands, rod, or staves as well as wisdom enhancing magic items.

It's kind of funny, but I'd throw in some flavor text. Maybe add some oath penalty stuff, like something out of the Freemason's Core Rulebook (or whatever they call it)... 'may my eyes be put out, my liver embroidered', etc, kind of stuff.
