Hello everyone,
Awhile back I created an Amazon listed Getting started with the Pathfinder role-playing game and recently updated it. I decided to post it so people would have an easy reference for people they meet who might be interested in getting started. The main focus is for people just coming into the game. So if you know anyone out there looking or debating you can point them to the list to get started. Take a look and if you have any suggestions let me know.

One of the things I've been unclear on: is there any advantage of getting "Pathfinder Chronicles: Gazetteer" if you have "Pathfinder Chronicles: Campaign Setting"? I had the impression that the Gazetteer was superceded by the Campaign Setting, or at least there was so much overlap than you only needed one. Does the Gazetteer have anything the Setting does not?

I'm also wondering if the Pathfinder Chronicles Campaign Setting is still valid with the new rules. For that matter, is there anything *Pathfinder* that will not work with the new system? I'd hate to start buying books only to find out they are going to release newer versions.
It's as compatible as any 3.5 product, and really crunch light anyway. I haven't gone through it thoroughly to compare point by point, but I'd say that the PFRPG rules wil usually work fine. There are a few bugs in the alternate class features, prestige classes and feats, but all those are minimal, and can be adjusted by a decent DM to fit. The Pathfinder Chronicler prestige class actually did get an update in the Big Book, anyway.

There are aspects of the book that aren't covered from my understanding that make it useful, but what I'm not sure of. I look at the book as a good supplement to hand out to the players who don't have the CS book to read and get a general idea of the whole world. It's also a cheaper entry for players in that regard. If you're going to just focus on a specific area and all the PCs are going to be from there then even it isn't needed and you could just go with the regional companion book.
