Great job so far, everyone. I'm really looking forward to seeing your backgrounds. If you haven't selected pictures for your myth-weavers sheets, try to find one before we start. I'll use at your token on the maps.
I left a note on the OOC thread for everyone to include something notable in their recent history when creating your backgrounds. It doesn't have to be big enough to get you noticed by the Dawn Council, but it would be good if it's the sort of thing people can't help repeating(the more interesting and unique, the better).

Excellent, how much do firearms cost in that area? Will taking Profession (Armsmaker) cover creating the powder and casting more ammo? I guess I better take a higher strength or plan on getting a haversack as my first item to carry a bunch of lead and chemicals around.
And in your world is it a gnomish long rifle? so I don't have to spend the exotic feat on it?

Even in the Oasis, it's still an exotic weapon. We'll call the Craft or Profession "Gunsmithing" to cover the creation, but you'll need both alchemical equipment for the powder and a mold for the bullet(I'm figuring something like a flintlock or a musket rifle, fairly easy to maintain). I'll double check the price, but it should standard(OGL) plus 25% to cover the exotic nature of the weapon.

Hmm, k then I'll have to take rich parents as my rifle will cost....a..lot LoL...and probably a pack dog.
Yes, Yes, I'm in Sasserine looking to establish some trade concessions with the nobles.
When you're choosing your favored terrain and enemies, I'd advise starting with Underground, Water, or Jungle for practical reasons. As for favored enemies, you'll get a lot of mileage out of Animals and Humans, though there are many different enemies throughout the campaign, and those in no way comprise the most numerous.

How is everyone else doing on their characters and background? I still need about half the sheets, and I'd like everyone to make sure "Raduloket" has the ability to edit each sheet, so I can make additions and corrections.
We'll be using the Medium XP progression, and I will be giving out story awards for excellent character development and roleplay.
I'd like to get started Monday, but it being a holiday weekend I'm not sure everyone can get their sheets done in time. We'll see.

OK, I need to know how you're going to treat this long rifle...because I don't want to be a hindrance to the group.
How long will reload time be?
Will you be using the exploding dice and misfire rules?
How much is this monstrosity going to cost? (which OGL costs are you using?) Since you have a clockwork location, is it steampunk like? Do you have Iron Kingdom rules?
Because if it's going to be a huge hindrance, I will switch to a double crossbow, and have a little steam engine instead of a crank to reload it...(having to spend an exotic proficiency to have a poor weapon just won't be fun.)
I love the concept of a gnomish sharpshooter, but if I'm gonna suck, I'll have to save it for another game and just go with a different weapon, y'know...

This article might be of interest.
The rest of the world is more medieval than steampunk, especially the parts in the AP, but I do have some reference material for Iron Kingdoms if it comes to that.
The cost of the weapon itself is extreme for 1st level(about 750gp by my reckoning), but the reload time should be very fast. The expense of making ammo is something I still need to work out, but with the right craft/profession it should be manageable in your timeframe. I won't be using exploding dice or anything like that. It's just an extremely uncommon weapon, but for a small weapon, its damage(1d10) is unparalleled. There aren't any feats in the core rules, but I'll make sure and drop some in if it's important to your character. At 1st level, you're not going to see a huge mechanical difference from other ranged weapons, but it will perform faster than a crossbow as you gain iterative attacks(without rapid reload, that's a given with this sort of weapon). It also has tremendous roleplaying potential, I think. If you stick with it, I'll make sure it gets the same attention as any other character background choice(I just don't want it taken for granted how unusual such a weapon is in the world).

OK, I had been looking at the Rifle from Pathfinder CS for stats, (it's 1d8 19-20/x3) so it would have been 1d6 for small, that's why I would have wanted exploding dice. =)
500gp+25% would only be 625gp right?

It may only do d6 for a small character, but the benefit is in the crit range and modifier. Very impressive indeed.

Sounds like a fun game though. I'm going to have to bow out, I just don't have the time.
Sorry to lose you(though not as sorry as the others will be when they need a cleric, poor things), but I definitely understand about time constraints.
Assuming our sorcerer is still with us, we'll still have a full group, albeit one that will need to stock up on potions.

Yup, but I'll go with the 1d10 Musket that the glorious Games master has shown me. Now, since I'm a gunsmith...can I have made it myself?
Hmm.
I'm going to say no, although it would be amusing to make you roll several weeks' worth of craft checks and have the gun possibly cost more in raw materials than it would to buy normally. <g>
Of course, if you'd just like to be able to take credit for making the weapon you carry for story purposes, I have no issue with that as long as the cost was the same(for which I will gladly dispense with the dozen or so necessary craft checks).
In fact, once your character sheet is done, I have a little something to contribute to your background. I have an idea.

How about having your life saved by a somewhat naive druid. He's just the sort of guy who could use a street smart fellow to show him the ropes and keep him safe in the big city.

I'm not going to be done with mine today, my time constraints will let me play, just i need to get some projects done before I can finish him...sorry to hold you up. So obviously I'll take "Rich Parents" to pauy for my gun...though the actual background of the trait could be different. At +8 Profession (gunsmith) I think I would have been ok crafting it ;)

We'll say Merchant's Tongue has an either/or component, offering 300gp and the 5% bonus on sales or 900gp with no permanent bonus, if you would prefer a self-made image along with the money. I'd rather the trait be part of the backstory if the benefit is used, so this way you have more than one option for where the money came from, business or family.

Sounds good, course I can't afford a musket with 300gp, so it'll have to be the 900gp to start...which works for me.
It could even be a "Life's work, you begin play with any 1 masterwork item."

Yeah, I haven't had a problem yet, but if you go epic then I'll go epic.
Cool. I'm not used to GMing Play-by-Post, so it seems alarming to me when this much time passes between people posting. It reminds me(incorrectly) of lulls at the table when someone takes a half hour to choose which spell they're going to cast or goes off on a solo tangent that leaves the rest of the party twiddling their thumbs.

I can keep up with games on Paizo, not sure if I could keep up with a game on another site...
It's the way I use my profile, putting all my active games in my profile...and I tend to post several times a day, if the game is moving quickly
I think we'll sit tight on Paizo for now, but I will use the other site for battlemap storage, background information, XP, etc. It won't hurt to keep an eye on the Epic Words site, but all the campaign posts will be here in the main thread.

Finally I chose (in reality I did a d2 to do the job for me to select between Ghirrak and Bryson)... thanks m8s
A half-orc, Ghirrak Ironfist, found the rogue in a dark Sasserine Shadowshore alley in a very bad state... his body completely covered by deep wounds... only the monk efforts (and some heal checks) were able to keep him away from death so that the strong monk finally took the guy to a cleric who transformed those deep wounds in just ugly scars... but everything about his past was gone and with that also his real name due to some brain damage occurred due to high blood loss... The monk started to call him Sneaky because this is what he looks like to him...
P.S. Ghirrak please tell me if this is ok for you.
P.P.S. GM could you tell me if the languages I adopted can be congruent with my past (that I didn't remember of couurse)... Aquan, Infernal... as God I chose Olidammara...

He also smokes a big Sherlock Holmes' pipe and has a pack dog that enjoys helping him.

I am creating a cleric of Cayden Cailean, the god of beer and bravery!
According to the gods and magic book, clerics of cayden cailean sometimes brew potions out of wine, and are often brewers and/or vintners. Also, there's a spell, Pick Your Poison, that allows the target to treat poison as strong alcohol (not poisoned, but -1 to all d20 rolls while "drunk"), and multiple failed poison saves stack this penalty. Also, clerics of Cayden Cailean can cast Create Water as Create Wine / Beer as well. Is that okay?
I was thinking she's an information broker working at The Plucked Parrot as serving wench / kitchen assistant, and sells concoctions on the side to earn money.
Annabel VonderGreer (known as Gull Street Annie) is a Shadowshore citizen - a child whose Bosch mother, with pretensions of nobility, spent them into penury and living on the streets. She was adopted by the local orphanage run by followers of Cayden Cailean when her mother died. While she despises her mother's helplessness in "the real world", she's unconsciously learned her mother's attitude of pride and her taste for fine things.
Questions:
I didn't see starting gold. Max from the book? Roll? Average?
Is there any starting hit point rules? Max? Average? Racial bonus hit points? Flat bonus hit points?

Absolutely. I'll have to look it up, but I like the flavor of it a lot. We seem to have a mixed pantheon at the moment, but I'm okay with gods from either Golarian or Greyhawk, so long as the player is passionate about them. Sasserine's a perfect city for gods of many nations.

Excellent. And I like the nickname and her mother's Bosch origins. I can actually use that later, if you want to tie the source of her money to Scuttlecove.

Starting gold should be class average, unless you take a trait that changes that. Starting hit points should be max, with your favored class bonus if you elect HP instead of skill points. The alternate starting hit points from the Beta didn't make it into the core rules, so I'm leaving them out for now. My campaigns tend to be low mortality, especially at the early levels. I can't tell if it's because I'm such a nice guy or if all my players tend to be powergamers.

Everything looks good, but you still need to give Raduloket access to the sheet. Other than that and your saves missing the class bonuses, Bindlplotz is ready to go. I'll have an answer on the bipod mechanics before your first combat.
Oh, and you should check the Bestiary Preview for Puposaur's(great name, btw) stats. You should list them on the sheet in case they ever change(barding, buff spells, etc), even if he's never intended for combat.
For your recent notable act, we'll say that your recent success as a merchant is how you're best known in Sasserine, unless you have something else you'd like instead for your burgeoning reputation. Welcome to the Savage Tide!

Looks like fun! You guys still need a sorcerer?
I think we might. Our sorcerer might have dropped, so if you're able to fill out a character sheet and come up with a background as soon as possible, we might be able to squeeze you in(and if Zamm does decide to stick around, it never hurts to have a reserve arcanist).

Yes I'm still in if possible... working on my full character sheet now it should be done in about an hour :D I am still looking through all the posts to sift through any more info about the setting/AP that I should have... obviously it sounds nautical in nature but that's all I can guess so far.

Provided earlier, but here's a link to the player's guide:
This will give you player information on the city, and can give you a good idea of where your character could originate from, what they might do for a job or where they might live, etc.
