Requiem for a Bard

Gamer Life General Discussion

Allezandro Mandrezi, performer extraordinaire, is dead.

He was the victim of a tragic tragedy as some of his companions turned over an artifact-level evil magic cauldron - against his advice, as he remarked that stuff that makes you blind by merely inhaling its vapours cannot be good for you if it touches you, so flooding the room with it might not be advisable - and the vile concoction inside washed over him and drained him of his life force.

With him dies one of the most celebrated bard in Varisia and hero of many an epic song about his exploits, assisted at times by his companions. He leaves dozens of crying women all over Varisia, and an undisclosed number of bastard children. He will live on in our hearts.

In other news, the rest of his adventuring party kicked off as well, but who cares?

We have it on good authority that the band of adventurers that will be sent to investigate their disappearance will contain a half-orc druid whose strength and wisdom is almost as legendary as his dumbness and utter ignorance of anything partaining to civilised life. Hunting Wolf and the new band of social misfits that will likely accompany him are the new last best hope for peace for Varisia!

The most-recent, not-quite-dead, ressurectable, free-of-warrants, last best hope?

I'm not sure about that one.

Maybe we should call them Adventurer Group 2.

But that would mean they'd blow up, too. And 3.

And 4 would just disappear.

Only group 5 would succeed.

And later:

Codwin I (to Axiomites and Proteans): Now get the hell out of our multiverse!

I know my bard will aspire to the heights of his greatness.

No. As usual, if they had listened to the bard the party would have lived.
