Given that it's a "licenced" race, i'm guessing we won't see an official conversion of the Aasimar to PF
So, for the Forgotten Realms Pathfinder campaign i'm going to be running, I've put together a PF Aasimar based on their Tiefling. I just can't decide on the "mental" +2 stat
+2 Con, +2 [wisdom or charisma, i can't decide] -2 dex
Aasimar are resisilant, both in body, mind and personality, but their toughness leads to a lack of grace
Darkvision
Skilled: +2 on sence motive and perception (They have a strong intuative grasp of situaions)
Spell-like ability: Light 1/day
Celestial Resistance: acid, cold, electricity 5
Divine Lore OR Celestial Sorcery. if the +2 ends up being to wisdom, they will gain Celestial Sorcery. if the +2 is to cha, Divine Lore
Celestial Sorcery: as Fiendish Sorcery on a tiefling, only for the celestial bloodline
Divine Lore: if an Aasimar is of a Divine Caster type, directly related to their Celestial bloodline, their casting stat (wis for clestics, cha for paladins) is treated as +2 for the purpose of spellcasting

Aasimars will be (or at least they're listed to be) in the Bestiary. There's already been at least one major aasimar NPC in a Pathfinder Adventure Path (Burnt Offerings).

Yeah, aasimar aren't a protected race.
Honestly, they can be left as-is and pretty much equal the power of a PFRPG race. I'd give them a penalty to constitution and change them to humanoid (planetouched), but yeah.
The Con penalty would make them iffy as Paladins, but who am I to argue with history (seeing that they had a -2 con when most other races only took a -1 to their penalized attribute) and I really can't see them losing any other stat. Being suffused with good doesn't exactly make you dumb, and penalizing dex makes little thematic sense and shoehorns them into being the clumsy plate-wearing divine caster stereotype.
However, apparently Jason (or someone else in the PFRPG crew) plans on making them balanced to play with elves and humans and such - the sidebar on page 406 of the PFRPG Core states that Assimar and Tieflings are balanced with the "Core" seven races.
Being a longtime fan of Planescape, this makes me happy, because I hate level adjustment/ECL/whatever with a burning passion, and I'm glad I can finally tell my players to consider Aasimar and Tiefling "as good as core to me."
I think I'm going to whip out the ol' Factol's Manifesto and celebrate by starting my next campaign in Sigil...

Why would the World Wrestling Federation be interested in aasimar?
(I know, I know, the joke's out of date, cut me a little slack...)
Although it's been a bit overused, I might suggest +2 to any one for aasimar, because their current +2s are both to mental stats and penalties don't really make a great deal of sense for them.

-2 con sounds quite good for an aasimaar. wisdom and charisma bonuses.
i cannot see any other stat to penalize, (except strength)
aasimaar shouldn't have a dexterity penalty, it just shoehorns them into plate cleric.
i don't like plate clerics.
i like chain shirt and espada (shortsword) clerics. typically the kind that wear white ankle length lace trimmed robes and holy symbols of [insert sun god here].
also, i hate that clerics don't get cat's grace. it just further shoehorns them into plate.
makes it harder to build a white mage that can fence.
i like my fencing clerics, don't punish them for not following the plate and mace mold. why did wotc never accept those of us who wanted finesse clerics.

Probably because in D&D, the majority of images and material was for plate clerics. None of which limited you to only plate clerics. You could even have your plate and eat it too (Luminescent Armour BoED.)

I'm deeply hoping for an article similar to the Council of Thieves #25 one on tieflings. I'd like to see similar variety and creativeness for aasimar.
Me too. And the new penalty for playing tieflings is well-balanced I think (at medium progression, 1000XP per level penalty... tough to pay at first level, but ridiculously low at higher levels... well done Paizo!)

I am with you on this one PDK. I really want a genasi clone too

Question to James or Sean K.: is the 1000XP penalty suggested in the CoT Player's Guide only from level 1 to level 2? (i.e. a straight out 1000XP penalty at first level and that's it; assuming Medium XP Progression)
Or was the intent to incur this 1000XP penalty at every level?
PS: don't care which one, as I find the latter balanced and inconsequential at level 5+ anyhow... but I'm the DM, and the players seem to care more than I do about these little gnawing details! :P
