Order #1218648 damaged

Customer Service

Somebody in the process of getting that order from your warehouse to my place managed to drop it so badly on one corner of the package that all books contained are damaged now, with the upper left corner bent from the impact and the thinner books also creased along the spine. It arrived today.

The German post office told me that there is no way to get a refund from them, as the shipment was not insured and in case of an international order, it is not possible to find out who damaged the shipment. Aside from making me "What the hell? They transport my stuff, but the risk of damage is with me? I don´t have any chance to control the process, but carry the risk?", I want to ask how we go about replacing those books. It was an order of over 50 $ (65 $ before the subscription discount), so I don´t expect you to give me a free replacement.

It contains the following books:
Pathfinder Adventure Path #25: The Bastards of Erebus (Council of Thieves 1 of 6) (PRPG) Print Edition
Pathfinder Chronicles: Legacy of Fire Map Folio Print Edition
Pathfinder Companion: Cheliax, Empire of Devils (PFRPG) Print Edition
GameMastery Module TC1: Into the Haunted Forest (OGL) Print Edition
Pathfinder Module: Crypt of the Everflame (PFRPG) Print Edition

Also, is there an affordable way to insure those packages? I´m going to ask that with the German post as well, as I guess if there exists such an insurance, it would only cover the damage caused within the US. I hate it when that happens, as I´m quite fussy about my books, and can´t stand to pay for someone elses mistakes, not to mention the trouble with getting the books replaced.

We do not have an insured shipping method for international shipments. As such, we choose to carry the risk of damaged shipments in nearly all situations where fault cannot be determined. We are happy and able to do this because most instances of damage/loss are very rare or one-time events. If a problem seems to be chronic, then we will work with the customer to find some way to bypass the source of the loss/damage.

Therefore I will put replacement copies of the books in with your next subscription shipment. In all likelihood, your books will reach you in the proper condition (with all the shipping wear-and-tear relegated to the shipping box and packing material) as with your previous shipments. If damage occurs again, just let me know and we'll see that you're well taken care of.

Thanks,
cos

Cosmo, thanks for the notice, and the fast service (the replacements are already included in the "waiting to be shipped" queue). Paizos customer service is top-notch yet again. (Don´t you tire of reading this ? ;-)

Come to think of it, I there was one instance in the past when a module was badly damaged during shipping (Crown of the Kobold King, the very first module I got - talk of a bad omen that did not come true). There were one or two instances with very minor damage I did not report. So, overall there seems to be one shipment a year getting damaged, with two incidents of mayor damage since mid 2007 - from over 40 shipments. I guess thats inevitable in international shipping.
