Some Clarifications, Before They Come Up (Paladins and Animal Companions)

Okay, some kind of off the wall questions based on the new rules set, just so that everyone is on the same page.

1. The new paladin entry does not say that paladins need to be one step away from their god. I understand that a paladin can be a general paladin and not have a god, but since I've heard questions about having LG paladins of Asmodeus and Lamashtu, I figured it would probably be a good idea to get this ruled on.

2. The new animal companion rules allow an animal companion to eventually have above animal intelligence, and thus, the ability to take feats outside of the restricted animal companion feats listed for the animal companions.

I have heard discussions on whether this would allow for animal companions to learn weapon related feat if an animal (such as an ape) appears to be able to handle some kind of weapon. So I guess the question is, can any animal companion use any kind of weapon, even if they gain a higher than animal intelligence.

Thanks.

The paladin entry doesn't mention deities at all, so there's no mechanical impact for paladins who say they worship Asmodeus. However, a LG paladin who says they worship an evil deity is clearly wrong in the head from a roleplaying perspective.

Moved to the correct forum.

I'll have to give some thought to whether or not I feel the need to clarify the animal intelligence "issue" in a future update of the PFS rules. Thanks for pointing it out.

Liberty's Edge

I asked the same question and recieved no response. The rules work for it so RAW yes. RAI no, probably. The argument I recieved was ITS NOT A MOUNT, but I don't recall the entry stating that the animal was to be ridden. A large ape with spiked chain would be very very fun to fight with.
