Same director as Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke. There's got to be other admirers here of Hayao Miyazaki's work...

I've seen most of Miyazaki's films (at least his feature length films), but alas, I have not seen that one.
IIRC, it was his first full movie. He actually got his start working on episodes of the Lupin III tv series. It's a fun movie, though it does help a bit if you're at least a little familiar with Lupin III's cast.
Back on-topic though: Yes, looking forward to Ponyo especially after hearing about that new record he set for himself on animation frames.
That was his first one as a director I believe, and one of the best pieces of Lupin III based animation.
Ponyo looks good though, have to see if I can catch a subtitled version in theaters or get it on DVD.
Howl's Moving Castle was very good.
My wife and I love his movies, she loves Totoro, my personal favs are HMC and Princess Mononoke.
Miyazaki-san can't make his movies fast enough for me. Yeah, I'm excited, although I don't expect it to be one of my favorites.

Saw this on Sunday with the family (wife and 2 girls ages 6 & 9). Everyone enjoyed it, but I don’t think any of us would pick it as our favorite Miyazaki film. We’ll be adding it to the collection when it is released on DVD, and it’s definitely worth seeing in the theater. One thing I did realize while watching it was how nice it was to see a hand-animated movie on the big screen again.

I tried to make it happen...the fam resisted. Whatever happened to Pater Familias?
Definitely looking forward!
Ponyo is a very fun and heart-warming movie. It is in the same age-level as Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service, i.e for younger audiences. BUT, still a very fun movie to watch and made me smile in delight many, many times.
I saw it in Japan, naturally ;)

AM I EXCITED ABOUT PONYO? If I was a little girl, I'd be peeing my pants right now.
Can't wait to see Ponyo. Howl's Moving Castle and Castle in the Sky are my standing faves. Really didn't care for Totorro, as it lacks a plot.
Just saw it, and it was about the cutest movie I've ever seen. The theme song made me dash out of the theatre while clutching my bleeding ears though.
Anyone else hear someone else pronounce it 'Pony-O?'
