How far do you want to take it?
The same subject came up years ago whilst sitting around in the pub one night with some friends. We had stone boxes holding Green Slime as toilets, Dwarves getting coal-gas and burning that in lamps, zombie driven paddle boats, rubber tyres for underground carts etc.
