Sometimes the trolls are cute. Other times, they come across as 12 years old.

Happy Sunday! It's single parent time! Wife is safe and sound at her hotel in Rio. Sadly, she's not in her room yet - apparently, it's not ready yet.

Scarab Sages

I'm thinking I'm gonna have to go buy some new slippers today. One of my old ones has finally given up the ghost.

Scarab Sages

I got far more enjoyment last night out of the preview for Walking Dead Season 6 than I did for the new spinoff series.

Mostly just not that good. The series has potential, but it's got to (a) get past the family drama, (b) add characters or actors the audience can empathize with and/or that we actually might like, and (c) more zombies and violence.

Scarab Sages

See my more detailed write-up in the Television section.

Scarab Sages

We had a decent night: Kids got to Facetime with mommy. Kids went to bed without a hitch. Daddy got some good study time in.

Scarab Sages

And then baby girl woke me up a half-hour before my alarm went off. She had a peepee diaper. I changed it and she went right back to sleep. I did eventually fall back to sleep...

Scarab Sages

Best get to it.

Scarab Sages

Busy day.

Scarab Sages

Hard to believe that some of my other threads have been going for 3 and 4 years. Hell, even this one is over a year old. Wild.

Scarab Sages

Tragically, the song "Stand by Your Man" was stuck in my head when I got to work this morning.

Scarab Sages

Damn you, Tammy Wynette!

Scarab Sages

Saw something on Facebook this morning that I'm pretty sure must be fake (though sadly so) - a report that Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie had signed on for Labyrinth 2.

Scarab Sages

Incidentally, Jennifer Connelly was one of my childhood crushes. She's only a year or so older than me.

Scarab Sages

And she's still thoroughly hot.

Scarab Sages

Point of fact - Connelly was only around 11 years old, or so, when she did her first nude scene in Sergio Leone's Once Upon a Time in America.

Great gangster movie. It's got Robert De Niro, James Woods, and William Forsythe, among others.

Scarab Sages

My co-worker says it was a terrible movie. Clearly, he's insane.

it worries me that you remember such a thing.

A couple of years back, I saw the full version of the movie on a movie channel, and it had the controversial scene in question. I was surprised at the time Leone could have gotten away with something like that, especially since that was Connelly's first feature film role. Since she has always been one of my favorite actresses, the factoid has been trapped in my brain ever since.

Scarab Sages

The movie has at least two other sexually charged scenes as well, both assaults by men on women. All in all, it's a violent film - not surprising for Leone, or for a gangster film. Still, despite it's length, I've always thought it an excellent movie.

Scarab Sages

I have other bits of disturbing trivia rolling around in my memory, if you need further worrying.....

Scarab Sages

For example, did you know that the great Marty Feldman died while filming on location - it was the vastly underrated movie Yellow Beard.

Scarab Sages

Or that the actress who starred in the recent re-make of I Spit on Your Grave was given a 'safe word' to use?

Scarab Sages

In the original script for Leon: The Professional, Mathilda (played by an 11 or 12 year old Natalie Portman) and Leon (played by the awesome Jean Reno) were supposed to have an intimate relationship. That was changed by the director.

Another awesome film, by the way. The performances by Reno and Gary Oldman were fantastic. That's probably to be expected, given the two actors. That was also Portman's first film.

Scarab Sages

The prosthetic makeup Clancy Brown wore as the monster Viktor in The Bride (with Sting and Jennifer Beals) made him sick and put him in the hospital.

Scarab Sages

My knowledge runs deep.

Scarab Sages

Thank ye gods, 'tis Friday! Wife comes home tomorrow.

Scarab Sages

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Huzzah! Wife is home!

Scarab Sages

Damn, though! There were plenty of idiots at the airport. Apparently, none of them realized you could circle around.

Scarab Sages

So much for peace and quiet.

Scarab Sages

Also, F+@$ YOU Academy Sports. I'll do my best to never set foot in one of your stores again.

Huzzah! So you will be one of us!

One of us!
One of us!
One of us!

Scarab Sages

Sad to see whiny "I'm offended" asshatery infect the once mighty FAWTLY thread, but...there you go. Was a time, f@*+ heads like that had the common decency to take it elsewhere, after a bit of chastising.

I used to be sad about leaving. Not anymore.

Scarab Sages

The apology was even worse. F#@+ing wuss.

Scarab Sages

In other news, I bought a new ruler today. It's clear, plastic, and square. Perfect for bopping unruly people on the head with.

Scarab Sages

Is it sad that such a purchase makes me excited?

GACK! We is getting old!

Scarab Sages

Methinks I shall take the opportunity of baby girl napping and the boy...doing anything (safe & non-destructive) without bothering me...and maybe get a little study time in.

aha, so you are still lurking in FaWtL :-)

Politics is a pernicious beast. I have sworn off politics in general. I'm much happier and saner that way. Besides , I came here to game *shrug* so I game

*waves at aeglos *.

I hope all is well with you, Sabine and the dwarfling!!

Cool castle pictures by the way

I do peek in on occasion.

Mourning the death of Wes Craven. He was a brilliant and creative writer/director.
