Y'know, I absolutely loved the first Iron Man movie, so much that I considering moving to a country where I could be legally married to it, but thats a different story.
But seeing these teaser images of Whiplash, as opposed to dozens of other "high power" villians for Iron Man to tangle with, and it kind of breaks my suspension of disbeleif. I keep thinking this is a joke character, because Tony is just going to shoot him in the head with his little sniper-rockets. Or just punch him once and watch his fragile looking exoskeleton shatter like a senior citizen's hip on a January sidewalk.
I mean, I don't exactly want to see Fing Fang Foom either, and another guy in a big suit wouldn't be distanced enough from the first, but still. Whiplash is going to have to play the skill card and show that he can use the whips to snap the little sniper-missles out of the air, and be fast enough without all the extra weight to dodge Iron Man's tankbusting punches.
Here's hoping the trailer footage will show something to that effect.

The world isn't ready yet.
But soon...oh yes, soon shall come the time of Fin Fang Foom.
Whiplash? Eh. Needs more Mandarin. A LOT more Mandarin. I know Lo-Pan with alien bling might not go over so well today, but surely there's a way to reimagine the character in a way that would work.

Like many things in the Iron Man canon, it seems like they're recreating alot for the Marvel Movieverse. Whiplash/Blacklash used to just be a guy in a kevlar bodysuit and cape with some fancy, high-tech shock whips. Now, he's got an exoskeleton and (some rumors suggest) he's being written as the Crimson Dynamo's brother. I hope the writers have come up with something good for him because if he's just the jobber supervillain he is in the comics, Mickey Rourke shouldn't be playing him. I'm a Crimson Dynamo fan so I'm all for him being in the movie, but I wonder what the movieverse version will be like since the original was a Cold War supervillain.
In order, other Iron Man villains I'd love to see in any Iron Man sequels (besides Mandarin, Fin Fang Foom.)
1. Madame Masque and/or M.O.D.O.K. w/A.I.M. (If A.I.M. ever gets into an Iron Man movie, I want to be an extra just so I can steal the beekeeper suit.)
2. Ghost and Spymaster
3. Blizzard (Donnie Gill, not Gregor Shapanka. I want to see Donnie in a cameo or as some jobber working for Justin Hammer. He's one of my favorite all-time losers.)
