was meeting everyone.
I walked into the con with little mental pics of everyone's avatars walking around with stick figure bodies. Now that I have a face and voice to the people I am hearing their voices in the posts while picturing their faces over their avatars.
"Hi" to everyone!
Right back atcha, big guy. And same same.
(In real life you look about as much like a ninja as I look like an ice devil! Then again, that's part of your eeeeevil ninja powers. You distract them with your T-shirt and a laugh that warms up the whole room, and they never see it coming... SNEAK ATTACK!!!)

I agree. Meeting the people I have interacted and come to know (somewhat) on the board and chat in the flesh, was the best part of the convention.
I also really enjoyed listening to DJ Whispering Tyrant spin the groovy tracks and hanging out in the common area on Sunday morning chatting with all the groggy Paizo employees and participants.
Jason, I'm still waiting for my Object in a Box.

Yep. The meeting and the talking was the best. Although some of my high points were folks who recognized me before I introduced myself. Glee!
Indeed. It's quite a tickle when you folks see YOUR name tag and say "Hey, you're [insert your name here]! I really liked [that thing you did]!" Or you for an autograph on something. Tickle!

I agree meeting and getting a chance to talk people in person was far the best thing about the con. granted everything else at the con was almost equally amazing as well! My hat goes off to amazing staff at Paizo for pulling such wonderful job.
And thanks to you, Jason, for letting me KILL KILL KILL YOU!!! I was feeling sad as a DM at not having mercilessly slaughtered anybody yet! That it would be another Jason just makes it even better!

I think the best thing was the gaming...
It was awesome to sit down with people both as GM and a player who knew what they were doing and played their characters well.
I had an awesome time. I thank those who GM'd for me and those who I had the honor of playing with.
Same, though I didn't have a chance to DM. I at least got to play a couple of games over the weekend with people that were amazing, and we totally tore through those aventures! Thanks for all the amazing memories, everyone.
Note: It was also awesome to get to play for the first time in ages. My group always strongarms me into DMing.

The best thing was the people. There are a bunch of very cool folks who are in and amongst the Paizo community.
Oh, and the gaming. Both scheduled con events and the open gaming.
Oh, and the seminars. Very cool stuff there. Very informative and entertaining.
Oh, and the other unofficial events and random gatherings.
Oh, and the people. Definitely the people. :)
Seriously, it was all good. Picking one best thing is tough ... so I would say the best thing about Paizocon was Paizocon. I'm already looking forward to next year. :)

Whether it was playing or hanging out, just being there with Paizoans was the best. It's such a cozy type community, it doesn't matter that I never met most of you before, it felt like a college reunion.
Everything about Lifesized Yetisburg was hysterical.
The post-banquet game of Werewolf with Lou Agresta, Tim, Matt, Ellen, Liz, Cosmo "Mr. Pokerface", Brandon "the Candyman", Scott "the Pissboy", Josh "the Assistant Pissboy", and all the others. My god, that was a hoot and a holler!

That was a blast! Lou is a great narrator. I wish that I wasn't so buzzed/tired so I could have played more than 1 round. hahaha (I'm such a lush/light-weight.)

Yes, but you are an amusing lush! And, dispite being awarded the name 'Wolfman' I was NEVER ANYTING BUT A FRICKIN' VILLAGER!!!
Damn body-hair profiling sons-a-b!tches!

I got profiled because my shirt mentioned blood. There was a lot of race/hair/shirt-ism going on at that game.

Decidedly the people for me. Everything else was amazing, but it was getting together with a huge bunch of great friends you've never met before.
The best thing I'm walking away from Paizo-con with is inspiration.
The amount of imagination infused within the community came to full fruition as we experienced what the best of the best bring to the game table. I've culled enough new sparks to fuel my RPG fire for the year to come!
Glad you joined up Danley! Welcome to the boards!

Hey, I've messed up a couple of names, and I even added a facebook friend I thought I had met at PaizoCon who WASN'T EVEN THERE, because his face and name seemed familiar and he was friended by some other PaizoCon folks!
Sudden mass of new people > brainpower to process them!

I have to agree with the sentiment of the best thing about the Con being the people. For those who aren’t completely bored of reading about the details, here are my personal highlights:
Thursday: I arrived on too late for the Meet and Eat, but did get a chance to meet my roommate Neil Spicer. Although we were both pretty busy throughout the Con, we did get opportunities to talk throughout the weekend and I thought it was pretty cool rooming with an RPG Superstar. Neil is a wonderful storyteller and obviously dedicated to writing engaging high quality material - and to top it off he’s a great guy. I’m looking forward to his adventure and hopefully he can get some more Pathfinder related work out of the opportunity.
Friday (morning): First thing in the morning I met up with the GM Juan (DragonBelow) and the rest of the Terminator players (mearrin69, Quandary, taig, zylphryx, and Derek Poppink….one of those didn’t make it but I’m having trouble matching some of the message board names to faces). This was my first exposure to True20, and I thought it translated well to Terminators and advanced weaponry. The other players were a lot of fun, and as the weekend wore on it was cool to run into them in other games and places.
Friday (afternoon): Here I got the opportunity to play in Monte Cook’s game. I was excited to be lucky enough to get this slot since I really like most of Monte’s material. I had high expectations for him as a DM, and he didn’t disappoint. I can imagine being a player in Monte’s home campaign is a lot of fun.
Saturday (morning): I played in my first Pathfinder Society game and killed a house cat with my first blow in the adventure. Now, to be fair, I had mistook the DM’s description of the cat as a fairly larger feline about to eat me, but the other players didn’t appreciate the mistaken identity and I was teased mercilessly as a cat-killer for the rest of the gaming session. But despite being red in the face for most of the session, it was all fun.
Saturday (afternoon): Next, was Jason’s Cursed Lot Game. What a blast! The game was part Pathfinder RPG preview and part comedy, and for four hours I was entertained by Jason’s DMing and some great roleplaying from the other players. Pete Apple, the player of the agoraphobic cleric, was amazing! Definitely a good time.
Saturday (night): Saturday night was the Pathfinder RPG Preview Banquent and it was the highlight of highlights for the Con. We ate great food and chatted with Wesley Sneider and Lou Argresta, were shown a preview of the Pathfinder RPG by Jason, and finished off with a very entertaining trivia contest. My table (BristleStick) did so badly we had to resort to making fun of Erik Mona and Joshua Frost for our answers just so we didn’t have a bunch of blanks, which completely backfired when for four answers in a row we answered “Damn you Eric Mona!”… apparently we couldn’t even spell Erik’s name correctly. Well, at least the other 130 people not sitting at our table got a good laugh out of it.
Sunday (morning): On the morning of the last day I played in my 2nd Pathfinder Society game and to my horror the player of Idalia (greensilkybelly?..something like that), the gnome dog-riding druid, sat down at the same table as me. I was horrified because she had been at the table when I killed the cat on the day before. Luckily, the cat-killing teasing only last through the first half of the game. This game was also a lot of fun and we wound up going an hour over the scheduled time because of all the role-playing, but we did finish the scenario successfully.
Sunday (evening): On the last night before my flight home I got a chance to play in a 4th edition game and in a Savage Worlds game. I had never played either before, and even though my head swam from all the new rules being fired my way, I was at least grateful the rumors I had heard about playing 4th edition were false: I didn’t go blind or grow hair on my palms.
All-in-all, I couldn’t have asked for a better gaming convention.

Shadowborn |

Friday: Gate of Sorrows. It's been an age since I've played Call of Cthulhu and what better way to reenter the game by choosing the pre-gen character who is actually the villain of the scenario! That was a whole lot of fun.
Saturday: Paizo Fight Club. I was thrilled to actually run Final PF rules characters, even if they were dying one after another, after another, after another... Our table was the first to finish the event, thanks to Wes and his ability to keep us running at top speed through the rounds. We obviously had a bunch of experienced players at the table, because we just whipped through, and with some decent tactical decisions to boot.
Sunday: Green Blood on a Black Rock! This was a fun scenario. Even though "Old Rattlebones" didn't make it to the final round (and even if he had, Sparky would have annihilated him) it was a blast. I'll have to adopt this idea in the future for one of my PF campaigns.

Remember, you need to let everyone know before you play with them that your Society character is allergic to cats. That will help best explain your animosity towards them.
I've also been showing your picture to my cat while sharpening his claws. He is trained to attack you on sight. Be warned!

That's what we get for just copying your name, Eric. In all fairness, Mona should legally change the spelling of his name to better suit our answers, don't you think?

Eric and Blake thanks for the great Tides of Morning game, I hope you all enjoyed the cats as much as I did. Eric, you might want to consider a level of ranger with hated enemy - felines, to enhance you title as cat-killer.
Hope to see you guys at Paizocon next year

I only have two lamentations from Paizocon:
1. I didn't have a voice for most of it.
2. I didn't get into very many conversations because of point 1, above.
But otherwise, I had a great time!
Thanks to Tim for organizing the Meet & Eat--the seafood was fantastic!
Thanks to Boomer & your GF for hanging out with me--if you ever find your way to mid-Missouri, stop by and say hello!
Thanks to Gavin (Gavgoyle) for the ride to and from the Meet & Eat.
Thanks to Zuxius for the great beer.
A hearty thank you to F. Wesley Schneider for running a preview of his Ustalav project. Playing this game was, for me, the highest point of a magnificent convention. I will watch this project with great interest for some time! Wes, if you would be kind enough in the future to let me know how things are going with Bastard Hall, please send me an e-mail or two!
Thanks to Lilith for the cookie--it feels like I'm part of a club now!
Thanks to Erik and Lisa and James(Jacobs) and James(Sutter) and Jason and Wes for all of the cool little previews!
Thanks to (name omitted to protect the guilty) for letting me look through as yet unreleased products! You know who you are--and you rock for bending the rules!
Thanks to everyone who ran the Grand Convocation and made it so much fun! A shout out here to Sean who channelled the servant of Asmodeus so well and to Jason Nelson who ran an amazing Grand Melee round.
Thanks to Boomer, Rob, and everybody else who played in my Hands of the Muted God game--I hope you all had fun!
A very special thank you to Erik and Josh for doing such a great job of hosting the banquet and making the trivia quiz so much fun. I laughed so hard that I lost my voice again!!
Thanks to yoda8myhead for winning me a gift certificate! Your Paizo knowledge is astounding!
Thanks to Turin the Mad and your fiancee for hanging out with me at Denny's!
Thanks to Vic for recognizing my e-mail address when I purchased something at the Paizo stand. This may seem like a little thing, but it made me feel welcome and appreciated.
And last but certainly not least, a profound thank you to Joshua J. Frost--who organized the event, who allowed me to run Society Scenarios, who lent me a dry erase marker, and who blasted my open call submission in a way that made me eager to try again. You truly created an amazing and memorable event that I want to return to next year, and the next, and the next, forever.
Paizo is the best entertainment company ever, period.
Thank you all!

I will confess, my rules were little sketchy on that particular turn of events. But I went with the default: what result would be funniest!?
Mr Selinker later told me that I made the right ruling in any case, and he was the ranking expert :)

ooh... The best thing about Paizocon was definitly meeting all the people I see so much on here but never met.
-Thanks to Gavgoyle for giving us a ride to the Crab Pot, I didnt want to walk :>.
-Thanks to Neil Spicer for being the best Qadiran princess ever.
-Thanks to Jason Nelson for watching me die a slow, painfull, color sprayed death at the Grand melee.
-Thanks to Nethys for running an awsome PFS #24. that was a good time.
And thanks to everyone for getting me remotivated for Pathfinder again.
I look forward to seeing you guys again next year!
PS: Thanks to Yoda8myhead and Lilith for knowing everything about Pathfinder I would've been hopeless without you guys.

It was great fun Kelly, I normally don't get into pregens much but I think a good time was had by all. :D That scenario can be a mess sometimes, but it went well. Thanks!

The first: Not a problem in the slightest!
The second: Great googlie-mooglie, our HPs couldn't have gone more up and down if they were on an elevator! That was a hella fun ride, Nethys, thanks again!!

THE BEST THING ABOUT PAIZO CON...
...sitting at a table and having someone say "Are you silkygreenbelly?" That was awesome.
...Getting to help create the premise for a PFS scenario with Sue Cook and Joshua Frost and lots of other great people in the Building a PFS Scenario Workshop. I thought it was going to be about how to write one. Turns out it was actually writing (the idea for) one!

As strange as it may sound, the greatest thing about Paizocon to me was...
It was like a gigantic preview of what Pathfinder/Paizo is all about! I went from hearing about some adventure paths to meeting, conversing, and partying with everyone... in the space of 1 weekend.
Needless to say I'm very happy to have met all of you!
(I didn't ever get to be the werewolf either, also I was the seer a couple times, awesome.)

Neil Spicer Contributor, RPG Superstar 2009, RPG Superstar Judgernaut |

-Thanks to Neil Spicer for being the best Qadiran princess ever.
Wow. Really? I felt like I totally let folks down in that role. I wasn't even supposed to be at the Convocation. Like two minutes before the whole thing went live, James Sutter grabs me out of the hall and asks me to fill in for the Qadiran faction. I said...okay. And, although I was really tired (from continuing jet-lag), I was really glad I got a chance to participate. Sitting next to Lisa and listening to her Fortune's Wheel spiel was hilarious. I couldn't quite match her energy, but it was still a lot of fun.
Oddly enough, I wasn't even sure how to portray a Qadiran princess. Pasha Muhlia was supposed to be all business-like and interested in profit-margin, return on investment, and portfolio risk management for any and all Qadiran shipping and caravan concerns. And, when I sent my Qadrians off to the next room to find "Amal" (my moneychanger and major-domo), I don't even think poor Russ Taylor knew that was supposed to be him. Thankfully, he found the Qadrians and sent them on their faction missions anyway.
So, I'm glad you had a good time interacting with the Qadiran princess at the Convocation. Maybe I can do better next year? :-)
--Neil

Thanks to Turin the Mad and your fiancee for hanging out with me at Denny's!
Wow, that was you? All I could think of was 'the dude from 300 got shorter' ^_^ Awesome, to have met and talked with you at Denny's. It was most informative to hear your experiences - just a few 'minor' differences results in such a different total experience at the same con!
The whole con itself was a great experience, a pleasure to have (however briefly) met all the Paizo staff and contributors that I could as well as a couple of hundred fellow Paizo 'boarders. It was great having the Grand Convocation and the Preview Buffet as the two cornerstone / 'almost all of us share these in common for being here' events.
