Will Pathfinder RPG hardcover pre-orders beat Gen Con?

Customer Service

I long ago pre-ordered the Pathfinder RPG Hardcover and wonder if I will be getting it before GenCon. If not, how will I convert my Pathfinder Society character and know the rules when I am playing and GMing at GenCon in Indy?

The first slot Thursday morning is all about converting you PFS to PFRPG.... I thought that at least some of the Gms were getting a photocopied version of the rules mailed to them, but I could be wrong in that (or it could depend on how many scenarios you're doing)

Preorders will hopefully ship so that customers might get them on or close to the release date, but obviously that's not something we can guarantee.

Josh has a plan for Pathfinder Society; keep an eye on the Pathfinder Society forums for details.

Cool, so I may get it before GenCon. That would be great!

If you convert your preorder to a subscription, you will get a free pdf when the book ships. Since it sounds like the books should ship to be received by GenCon, even if your mail is slow you should have the pdf with plenty of time to convert your PC.

Does that include subscription copies as well?

Dark Archive

Just buy two! A pre-order/subscription copy for yourself and a GenCon copy, for reference while you're there, to bring home for a friend. =:)

The many hours of pure gaming enjoyment sure to follow will pay you back ten-fold!

See you in Indy!

Update:

We've made some decisions regarding shipping of the Core Rulebook (and other August subscription products) and Core Rulebook PDF distribution. Here's the lowdown:

Assuming there are no major problems getting the Core Rulebook into our warehouse, we anticipate shipping subscriber orders and preorders starting the first week of August. We'll attempt to stagger-ship them based on transit time so that as many copies as possible arrive as close to the August 13 release date as we can manage. Of course, that's all up to the postal system—some folks will get it a day or two earlier, and some later.

The PDF will become available on August 13 as the Gen Con floor opens. The PDF will be priced at $9.99. Pathfinder RPG subscribers will get it for free (but not until the release date).

Holy crap.

That is cheap for the PDF.

There might be some backlash from subscribers Vic... as it makes it expensive to get the core books from Paizo.

Just a piece of feedback for ya.

For those who find it easier or cheaper to acquire them elsewhere, by all means, do so! We hope that those of you who hold off on the subscription because it begins with a heavy book that has a cheap PDF will reconsider it and perhaps come to a different conclusion for future products.

Also, that's one of the reasons we're telling you about it now—we want you to have the most accurate information so that you can decide what's best for you.

Hey, Vic? You guys didn't have the Pathfinder RPG subscriber option back when I pre-ordered the book (as well as the Bestiary, actually). If I want to subscribe to the Pathfinder RPG line now, do I need to cancel those pre-orders? Or can they be rolled into the subscription somehow?

When you start an ongoing subscription, any existing preorders for products covered by your subscription are automatically cancelled (or have their quantity reduced by one if you've preordered more than one of an item).

Is the plan to have all subscriptions for the month release at the same time?

Since I have all my subscriptions ship with the Pathfinder Adventure Path books, will this delay the PFRPG book?

"Yes" to the first, so "no" to the second.
