PaizoCon General Discussion

I'm sure we'll get some posts like "Do you like Pie?" but my intention is that maybe some of the lucky attendees could ask a question on behalf of the folks who couldn't attend?

Feel free to add your own question.

MY QUESTION:

Does Paizo have any intention of providing (or allowing someone else to provide) an html site of the PF rules... such as www.d20srd.org site?

As contextual point, Paizo often references this site when discussing 3.5 prior to the upcoming conversion, and has used that site in guidelines for some of it's previous contests. So obviously they've seen the value of such a site. Will they provide or allow a similar one?

Thanks to however passing this question on to the Powers That Be!

Paizo wouldn't need to grant permission. It's OGL and as long as the site is not-for-profit, it wouldn't violate the Community Use Policy.

Jason confirmed the OGLness at the PaizoCon banquet, though it was pretty much common knowledge.

for the beta content try PFOGC.com

Now this is helpful! Thanks for confirming even though I suppose it was an obvious question. I didn't think it through.

But the Link?

Thank you! Just what I was looking for!

I think specifically all of the rules and only the setting stuff is non-ogl and maybe even some of that like cleric domains and gods.

I believe the Pathfinder RPG will be the first printed product to bear our (slightly) revised OGL statement, which is as follows:

---
Product Identity: The following items are hereby identified as Product Identity, as defined in the Open Game License version 1.0a, Section 1(e), and are not Open
Content: All trademarks, registered trademarks, proper names (characters, deities, etc.), dialogue, plots, storylines, locations, characters, artwork, and trade dress.
(Elements that have previously been designated as Open Game Content are not included in this declaration.)

Open Content: Except for material designated as Product Identity (see above), the game mechanics of this Paizo Publishing game product are Open Game Content,
as defined in the Open Gaming License version 1.0a Section 1(d). No portion of this work other than the material designated as Open Game Content may be
reproduced in any form without written permission.
---

So there are a few trademarks and references to trademarks (including:
Paizo Publishing, LLC; the Paizo golem logo; Pathfinder; GameMastery; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game; Pathfinder Society; Pathfinder Chronicles; Pathfinder Modules; and Pathfinder Companion;) those bits aren't OGC. (Most of those are mentioned in a very small section that talks about supplemental products.) Proper names include the list of deities and example names for races, and there's also a sample character in there that technically isn't open content. The mini-fiction pieces that introduce each chapter also include some non-open content, including character names.

Unless I've forgotten something, everything else falls under OGC.
