Established gaming group looking for a few more players for Wednesday night game. We do a lot of face to face and are beginning to use maptools.

Where at in NoVA? I'm in Sterling, and a Wednesday night game might work for me (I work in an ER, so many weekdays are free).

One of us is near the Fair Oaks mall, I am in Arlington, and the rest are in Maryland which is why we are beginning to use maptools. Any face to face would happen in Fairfax. We are currently about to start Second Darkness.

How often do you get together? Is it every Wednesday or something like every other or twice a month? That latter could be doable for me . . .

We try to do weekly but recently it has been more like once a month, that is why we are looking for a few more so he party can be full even if a few are missing.

Okay, you can seriously count me as interested. Can you tell me a little bit more about your group? How many people? All guys? How old? Role players or roll players? Serious types or just having fun? 1 regular DM or people taking turns? Any characters worked out yet? Tentative start date?

Just so you know, I've been hitting the PbP on these boards for something like a year 1/2, but haven't sat at a table with actual dice in a very, very long time. Hell, I don't even own dice. I'm well into my 30s with a wife and kids, which is what makes committing to a regular weekly game a little rough.

Hmmmm . . . if you are looking to expand the group and get more than one or two people, can I recommend maybe having a one shot game, maybe a PF Society Scenario, as a try out session?

Lets see, in the current game, which we are having trouble getting going right now, there are 4 guys. Three are married and 2 of those are expecting in the next 9 months. I am 35 and there is another over 30. I have been playing DnD since the box edition as well as the other 30 something. The young-ins started in the 3.0 days.

We try do be role players but it depends on the DM and story, however we a few of the young-ins tend to min/max but we keep them under control.

We usually take turns being a DM though it usually defaults to one of us older players. We have a large collection of friends who play in our semi-annual one-shots so that is always an option, and pretty regular.

I have never played PBP though I am trolling the boards to see if I can land in one soon and we have just started using maptools virtual tabletop though we prefer face to face. The big issue we have right now is that alot of the group has moved around leaving some around Baltimore and some in NOVA as well as one in Nashville. So my goal would be to see who we can bring on board to fill out weekly or bi-monthly games.

Right now we have been trying for a few weeks to get all 4 remote players together to start second darkness with the PFRPG ruleset started (lvl 2 characters). Unfortuantely, a car accident, break down, and 2 internet outages later we have been pushed back a few weeks. I am not sure we are gonna start this week due to a schedule conflict but the idea of every other Wednesday may be better for us all anyway.

I have not looked into the PF Society though maybe it is time I do.

Count me in, and I have to say, remote works for me, too. One of my girls is only three months, and with two of your players expecting, remote will probably work better for them, too. It's easier on the significant other, and you can always step out to change a diaper, if need be.

What time do you guys plan on playing and what's your character mix so far?

Hey, I'm the other oldster in Xyro's game. We'd prolly end up playing at my place in Fairfax/Chantilly. Plenty of room, wife is geek friendly, and if your wives or what have you play Munchkin, she'd be on that like a fat kid on cake :) We do have cats if allergies are an issue.

If I DM, I usually run story driven, hack and slash games, action movie type stuff. I just have no feel for intricate role playing plots, it's a weakness. I tend to homebrew the world a good bit, but Xyro has a Wiki set up for my "main" world. Wow, that sounds amazingly geeky... :) Like Xyro, I started playing in Red Box days, and tend to run a more "old school" type game. I am also a control freak, but it seems to work in this milieu :)

EDIT: In this case, Xyro is running the game, not me :
