What about adding a "Discuss!" link to the forums after each weblog entry?
Each entry in the weblog would get its own dedicated messageboard thread, and people would start their discussion there.
Right now, we usually get two or three threads for everything before people manage to combine them.
If we wanted additional threads, we could still creat them, but this way, the first step would be clear.
Wouldn't be hard (it's already possible, it just means that whoever manages the weblog needs to start a thread and link it to the blog), but I think it would be quite useful. What say you?

Those crazy event managers.
They do need pointers for their craziness.
Lesson one: More exclamation marks!!!!!!
As you can already see, more exclamation marks mean more crazy. 5+ is the recommended number.
Until you guys can automate this thing, maybe force the individual writers of weblog entries to set up threads by hand?
I do know how you feel: A thousand things to code, implement, or fix, not enough time for nearly half of it, and everyone finds new stuff all the time.

I'd prefer five entries a week before we start adding additional requirements on the obviously already overloaded blog writers.
I think the real issue here is that people like to make threads that are nothing more than pointing out that there's a blog. We don't need someone to tell us what's in the blog. We can see it ourselves with a simple mouse click. In general, though, it seems most of the discussion threads are on different enough topics that they warrant different threads. With the exception of the PRPG previews, which are merely highlighting the problem.
