I saw that they have a prequel to the Song of Fire and Ice in graphic novel form. 2 volumes. Is it any good?

If you are referring to Hedge Knight. I enjoyed it quite a lot.

The Hedge Knight is excellent. Very good story, both in prose form (which you can find in Dreamsongs, Volume II) and the graphic novel.

I haven't seen The Sworn Sword graphic novel yet, which is ironic as I did some (very minor) work on it. Marvel swooped in and nabbed the project after I did my (seriously tiny) bit on it, so I never got my own copy :-( By all accounts, it's pretty good. The prose version of the story, which is good but not quite as good as The Hedge Knight, is in Legends II, a 2003 anthology edited by Robert Silverberg.

The third Dunk 'n' Egg story is called The Mystery Knight and will appear in Warriors, a new anthology due out in March 2010 from Tor Books. If you look carefully, there are also references to the two characters in A Storm of Swords and a really obscure one in A Feast for Crows.

There not direct prequels so far (although the last couple of stories in the series - GRRM envisages at least six and maybe as many as twelve in the sequence - will tie in with the backstory to ASoIaF), as they start ninety years before the events of A Game of Thrones. The only characters from the novels alive are Walder Frey and Aemon Targaryen, and they're both just kids (and neither have appeared yet).
