Legacy of Fire

Grand Lodge

My players are currently running through Howl of the Carrion King, and at the end of the adventure, they'll probably want to spend some of their accumulated wealth. However, I suspect several of them may not want to stray that far from Kelmarane (plus I'd like to keep them away from Katapesh so their visit in book 3 can have that 'freshly unwrapped' smell to it), so my question is as follows;

Has a gold piece limit for Solku been printed anywhere, and if not, would anyone care to hazard a guess at one?

In the Katapesh companion book, there's a handy map on the inside cover. One of the major towns mentioned in the text is not shown on the map... starts with an "O"... DHTBIFOM though... anyone?

I'm not sure about the Katapesh book, but Okeno is on the south-central coast of the island in the Obari Ocean immediately to the east of the Brazen Peaks.

That's the one... it's not showing on the map I think...

I don't have the Katapesh book. It's on the world map, though. I didn't notice it myself for quite a while. There's not much indication that Katapesh owns the island at all until one cross-references the major cities in its writeup with the map, but I suppose that can't be helped without a lot of "X is bounded by Y and Z" notation that would have eaten into the word count.

I highly recommend the Katapesh book... it's my second favourite chronicles book so far... (i.e. a close second behind The Great Beyond)

It's absolutely essential if you play or run the Legacy of Fire AP (ok, maybe not, but you get my meaning... :) it "tremendously enhances your experience in this campaign" if you have that book... :) )

I've been thinking about it. I'm starting a LoF PBEM on Wednesday, but I think I can easily get by on the stuff in the AP for the first two adventures.

How would you rate the proportion of stuff any gaming product about such a city would have to unique cool stuff? Into the Darklands was a bit too much on the side of the previous Underdark books I've read for my preferences, though I suppose it's not fair to fault Paizo for focusing on the areas that most campaigns are more likely to use.

Katapesh book has a lot of unique and cool stuff. It will really enhance your campaign if you play LoF or any other campaign in Katapesh. It doesn't overlap with the info found in the Legacy of Fire player's guide either: it completes it. The Legacy of Fire Player's Guide can be memorized by players with no harm to the campaign; the Katapesh / Dark Markets book, however, has a lot of DM-only info (if I was a DM, I'd still allow players to buy and use it though, provided their PCs take ranks in Knowledge: Local or Knowledge: Geography, or otherwise provide a very cool in-game reason as to why their character have that knowledge; i.e. if players give me elaborate background stories for their PCs, I'm inclined to reward them with such knowledge without the use of ranks. As far as I'm concerned, there's no reason a seasoned desert nomad warrior - fighter, ranger or otherwise - should know less about this land because Knowledge: Local is not on their list. They were "born" there, so if the player has done his homework with detailed background story description, I allow player knowledge...)

You and the discount code sold me. :)

My work is done then! :)

(funny you just posted this: I actually put a sizeable order this afternoon in order to take advantage of Paizo's rather clever marketing scheme... if I'm a fish... I'm already in their bucket... way beyond hook and sinker... :P)

I would have probably gotten more, but I just loaded up on PDFs last month and paid for my mother's birthday present this month. Not looking forward to my credit card bill. :)
