I wanted to say thanks to all of the GM's and the other players who made the PFS a success this year at CanGames in Ottawa. Hopefully, it will be even bigger next year!
For those of you who missed it:
Yves Lefebvre (Essel) ran Black Waters. (A very knowledgeable and innovative DM)
Matthieu Dayon (Dam' Sadar) ran Perils of the Pirate Pact. (An author running his own adventure: almost always cool, and it certainly was in this case)
Craig Shackleton (ex-Rambling Scribe) ran his 2 scenarios: Frozen Fingers and Prince of Augustana (I did say almost always cool) ;)
It was especially good to have a chance to game with all of the folks from the Montreal PFS group.

It was a fun time at CanGames but it seemed that every time you turned around there was a Shackleton.
Actually, the biggest complaint would probably be that there weren't enough PFS games being run. Although there was pretty much one session being run in every slot at the con, if you didn't pre-register for them it was tough to get in them. I'm sure that more would have been filled had they been able to run more. Can't wait until next year with the actual Season 1 underway.

I've said it before, there seems to be an inordiate number of PFS authors hailing from the Great White North. If they are allowed to continue unchecked we risk total distraction due to the high quality scenarios being exported to America & elsewhere. Something has to be done before the rest of the world is enjoying itself so much they stop watching their borders and the beady-eyed Canadians can move onto the next phase of their nefarious master plan!

The Rideau Curling Club is a cool (with beer available nearby!!) but small place. We ran only 7 tables during the con, and we were even not able to get tables during the busy Saturday AM and Saturday PM slots.
Cangames gives priority to people that gone there before and it was my first going there. Surely we will be able to get more space next year, and be able to get 2 tables per slot.
I gained there a very practical GMing experience: when I have a beer in hand and a foolish player gives me an AOO; I have now a nasty twist for rolling a nat 20! 8D

I do love that at CanGames, the bar is like 10 feet from the RPG tables, and you can use your volunteer credits to buy drinks (although I forgot to collect mine this year!)
I spoke to one of the organizers at the end of the con and he's very keen to have a stronger PFS presence next year.
I also killed my first PFS PC this weekend. Her first scenario, too, but she was a good sport and made up a new character for the next slot. Unfortunately, Zaresh the mongoose escaped my grasp!
I also enjoyed playing in the other games, and finally hit 3rd level.
I look forward to next year!

We ran a total of 7 tables of PFS Organized Play, and we can project easily 10 to 12 tables for next year.
We shall be there in 2010, for sure!

I would have no problem with running something at Cangames next year. I don't think that we would have much trouble finding other DMs as well.
I was sick as a dog for most of the weekend, so my recollection of this year's CanGames is thru a Tynenol-Extra-Strength-Cold-and-Sinuses(tm)-induced haze, but you can count on me to run you thru some scenarios next year !
Although I do think that like this year, each scenario could be run more than once and still have full tables.
I believe so too, especially if relatively recent scenarios (ex. Prince of Augustana, Perils of the Pirate Pact) are scheduled.
