I have not watched BG all the way through so lo and behold I pick up where they touch down to earth and find it a wasteland. What's going on? They all remember dieing on earth thousands of years ago. was that only the cylons? or did the humans remember also? Is everyone a cylon? Or is everyone reincarnated? Is starbuck a cylon and if so, than why does patch say his wife is the last one????

Not everyone is a cylon. Starbuck is definitely not a cylon. Only the final five remember their lives on earth because they were the only ones who lived there. More about them gets explained in the episodes with Ellen a bit later on.

I put this under spoilers since I think it was a waste that they couldn't even keep the story straight but I'll try and explain so please feel free to query or if someone else can clarify the details be my guest...
They contacted the cylons and in return for ressurection tech and the possibility of gaining human form they declared a truce and left.
However the head cylon and first to undergo human form also the priest from the first season who told the engineer he wasn't cylon since he didn't recall him attending the meeting, got jealous and killed one of the other new cylon human series and captured the five who were mindwiped and sent into the colonies unaware of who they were.
However the effect wasn't as permanent as expected and with the destruction of the ressurrection ship the cylons needed the five back to restore that tech, but until Ellen died they pretty much survived since the remaining ressurrection tech they did have left only worked with the five(or so it seemed) Starbuck wasn't a cylon of course they did introduce a subplot where it seemed she was the daughter of a cylon human but since they identified the five this left this hanging as the only suspect was a member of the series that John or Cylon 1 with a jealousy problem euthanised.
The only way the starbuck plot would have worked is that there was a sixth survivor who was starbuck's father and when she found her way to earth and crashed she was ressurrected by the tech the five left behind because it couldn't be moved meaning she was reborn unaware of what had happened but had downloaded the details to return to earth but not the reason why she now knew.
In all quite a mess anyone else care to clear this up?
