Koenig's Moon
The initial Pilot is a story of a luna colony which is little more than a 300-strong crew employed in the monitoring and maintenance of earth's orbiting Nuclear Waste dump (which up until recent has been ill handled and under funded) at the moment prior to the launch of a Manned expedition to an Earth like World from which a Signal has been Detected. It is for the best part a story of Politics, corporate and governmental corruption, and Space which culminates in a change in lunar orbit thanks to the Nuclear waste dump going critical.
It is uncertain what happens on earth in light of the nuclear blast and loss of moon, but the moon is pushed out toward Mars in a course that will take it out of the solar system.

Worse still, Commander Koenig is burdened with the continuing presence of a vile politician who is visiting Luna base.

If the series hadnt degenerated into a bad version of Startrek it might have made a descent series.

YOur thoughts on a Movie remake as a Human-exclusive story? Is Space ready for an "everyone is going to die" Story?

This show was dark. I liked it as a tot. Human only? My favorite character was the alien (Psychon) shapeshifter Maya.

Probably wasn't a big enough property to get much mileage out of a remake, which is usually the reason they bank remakes.

I knew two kids who had the big Space 1999 spaceship. It was a thing of (cheap plastic) beauty.

Everyone is going to die. I wonder what happens after you die?

Scarab Sages

I loved the show when I was kid and actually had the spaceship toys and the communicator walkie-talkie. I realy don't want to re-watch the show now because I know it won't live up to my memories.
