Spoiler:Seriously though, I signed an NDA. So nothing leaves these lips. I will tell you that you should be able to dig up the price that Hasbro paid for WotC, since they are a public company. That info is out there, somewhere, I do believe!Nope, just me. :) Its the thermite bomb attached to my lower brain stem. Boom. Dead.

Reality check. After reading this exchange, is your immediate reaction to:
(a) Begin searching for the price Hasbro paid for WotC?
(b) Begin searching for a way to defuse the thermite bomb attached to Lisa's lower brain stem?
(c) Eat breakfast?

Mine was to ask Lisa what WoTC actually paid for TSR. :P

If I recall correctly (and my memory is not keen this time of day) it was Five Rings Publishing Group that brought the TSR deal to WotC (TSR being $30 million in debt by the first quarter of 1997). Wotc purchased BOTH companies by April of that year.
In turn, I believe the purchase price of WotC by Hasbro was approximately $324 million (but that was way back in Sept 1999 – so I’m not certain). I would have to do some digging. I also vaguely recall that certain product lines (say the novels and books as opposed to the rpgs) were of keen interest to Hasbro at the time.
It’s 8:28 am and I have had no sleep so take all of this as foggy memory, by the by I think Ms. Lisa is up late herself.
I myself sold the last of my Hasbro stock when they pulled the pdfs, I had a minor loss of .50 cents a share but hey it was the straw that broke the Tarrasque’s back.

According to wikipedia (yeah I know):

Indeed. In this article, it is quoted that Hasbro payed 325 million US-$ for WotC, with adjustments made later driving this up to nearly 500 million.
OTOH, WotC acquired TSR comparatively dirt-cheap, for just 25 million US-$, if the wikipedia entry is correct (the number is quoted from a report by Allen Varney, who is or has been quite an insider to the gaming industry).
Peter Adkison made quite the deal. Or course, Magic was hugely successful as well, and other genuine WotC products were as well, so the old TSR heritage was more of an add-on for Hasbro, I guess.
It took my about 10 minutes in the net to find these numbers, so they are by no means secret.
