It's rare for my players to pick up exotic weapons but one recently gave in to the idea of wielding a morningstar and net. It's a style reminiscent of Roman gladiators (net and dagger/trident). I assumed the morningstar and net could be wielded one in each hand but haven't found what the heck a net would count as. I'm thinking a one handed weapon but that's why I'm here, to ask the Paizo community what the net would be.
Is the net a light weapon? Is it instead a one handed weapon? Two-handed even? Nets are pretty large! Enlighten me with the community wisdom, my score is but a 13.

Two-Weapon Fighting section in the SRD says:
"Thrown Weapons
The same rules apply when you throw a weapon from each hand. Treat a dart or shuriken as a light weapon when used in this manner, and treat a bolas, javelin, net, or sling as a one-handed weapon."
However it seems unlikely that your player is going to actually be two-weapon fighting in this way, as in throwing the net and attacking with the mace on the same turn. It seems far more likely that the player will be holding (not an attack) the rope attached to the net while stepping in closer. Shortening the rope to 5 ft. to prevent the target from stepping away, very good against casters :D.
On a personal level, I'd say it has less to do with your base stats and more do to do with your feat selection. Some of us here blew one of our precious feats on Skill Focus (Knowledge OGL) and likely a few to many skill ranks in it as well.

Aha, that's good to know. I've no idea how I missed that but now I know. Thanks a bunch!

I shouldn't have put so many ranks into Use Rope. My shoe-laces kept coming undone and I got frustrated so I took a beastload of ranks. Now it's looking less than useful. Thankfully if any rogues break into my house I'll be able to tie them up well, granted I can subdue them first.
