"Of course silly," Momus says. "There is always a price for your dreams to come true. Despite my apperance, I am not a fool."

"Before the deal is made,

What is the price to be paid?"

He may pay, he may not

The Mask sighs.
"This is...unprecedented, to say the least. Curse the Runelords, I had hoped they would not intervene. Now they have done so, and I shall have to boost my...well, well, well. Perhaps something can be arranged?"
The Mask chuckles, and there is a flash in its red eyes.
"This will be very interesting."

"Before a price I can name, you must tell me what you wish to gain," the Jack of Tears says. "Hey this rhyming thing is fun. In all seriousness though, you always have the right to say no."

"What I wish to gain,
Must be done on my own,
For is goes against the grain,
For succes to not be self-sewn."

*Oroth turns to leave.*

"Very well," Momus says. "However, you are still welcome to stay and enjoy all the pleasures that the carnival has to offer."

Speaking of pleasures...

The priestess juggles a glass orb in her hand. Inside can be seen the ever-changing form of El-Lina.

Your Circus has given me many new ideas.

The figure in the orb is wreathed in flames. Her tiny screams can be heard from within as her flesh melts.

Ash pops back in, Giggler in tow.
"Well, that was fun. Got all of them properly stirred up now. Your move, boss."

The burning figure of El-Lina is extinguished by a gout of water. The water keeps filling the sphere until it is full. El-Lina can be seen struggling to hold her breath.

'If I Could Keep Pain in a Bottle...', the priestess sings/paraphrases as she heads over to the concession stand for some cotton candy.

Ouch...she sure isn't very nice. I'm starting to feel sorry for El-Lina now.

Where do think El-Lina learned her tricks? The price of failure can be steep.

Ash watches the priestess's game with the bottle appreciatively.
Now, there's a woman after my own heart. Gods, that must be anguish. I wish I could hear the screams.

Steep indeed, aye...and more interesting plots are born ;)

Things seem quiet. Think I'll catch up on the sleep I didn't get yesterday. See everybody tomorrow :)

Just as it looks like El-Lina is about to drown the water flows out of the sphere. As the changeling lies gasping on the ground she begins to hear the screeching of a banshee. She looks up - Oh NO! It's Paris Hilton singing to her! How much more can she endure?!

The Priestess of Discord switches the sphere to mute.

'Guess I'm the Priestess of Dis-Chord now!', she mumbles as she eats bits of an elephant ear. Made from a real elephant.

Scarab Sages

Mmmmmm.....elephant.

Creepy Jester-elf-thing, you might like this video. Band is Poets of the Fall, song is Carnival of Rust. I suspect you will like it. James Jacobs MIGHT like it also. He likes creepy stuff.

Carnival of Rust

This band is from Finland, and is FANTASTIC.

I don't think he needs any more ideas. Let's try to survive the ones he already has first, neh? ;)

*Sigh* :)

The priestess looks into the orb. El-Lina has passed out, but her body still twitches as Paris Hilton continues to sing on. She's oblivious to the pain she has inflicted.

The priestess smiles and PH fades to black. A miniature sun rises over a miniature world within the orb. El-Lina begins to rest peacefully, in the middle of an oasis.

She coos Soon, my pet. Soon...

Who is your Master? Our Master? We are sisters, you and I. She hurts because she loves us so.

"Your skills are quite impressive priestess," Momus says. "How would you like your own krewe?"

Jack of Tears wrote:

But I have one already. They can be so much work...

The priestess shifts into a negative version of Momus. Giggling she skips away.

Since the bossman seemed to be distracted Ash shrugged and walked over to the knife throwing booth. She absently picked up a dagger and tossed it, taking off an ear of the kid tied to the wheel. She sighed with pleasure as she heard the scream.
"Now that's what I'm talking about. Good old-fashioned pain and terror in the face of oncoming destruction. Nothing like it."

The priestess skips by

The Fallen Angel likes to play.
With little children so they say.
Will she switch, will she turn?
When it's time for the world to burn?

The priestess stops suddenly

Now I'm rhyming. Time to go.

She melts into blackness, then fades away.

"Now what was that all about?" Ash asked, puzzled. "I mean it's not like I haven't been clear about my general goals all along. I was a loyal servant of the goddess of destruction for crying out loud. Too bad she's dead."
She absent-mindedly threw another dagger, severing a finger. She was so distracted she barely noticed the lovely screams.

The skinny harlequin snatches up a dagger and tosses it downrange. The blade sinks into a kidney, elciting a wail

An ace I'm not,
My throwings bad!
I think that tot,
Will now be sad ..

The clown capers along the shadowed midway

*Hearing the screams, Oroth stops. He turns around his eyes full of fury*
"Let the child go."

The skinny harlequin giggles obscenely

'Tis not the laughing clown,
Who tied him to the frame.
Our host the Jack of Tears,
Must take all of the blame ..

The Giggler snatches up two more daggers and pitches them downrange. They each land in one of the child's eyesockets. His screams cut off like a light switch. The Giggler bows to Oroth.

I have done as you have asked,
And set the poor child free.
His soul can now serve a new task,
In our host's shadowy coterie.

The lean clown does backflips and cartwheels around Oroth, laughing raucously.

Ash and the others do not seem to notice that the severed body parts regrow as soon as they are cut off.

"that is the price I mentioned," Momus says. "Every wish you have can come true, in a very literal sense. Be careful what you wish for."

Friggin top-notch song and video Krome, thanks for the linky!

*Oroth looks at Ash and gives a smile of his own. His illusion falls, revealing his ture form-that of a 12 year-old.*

"I am one.."
*He raises a hand, and shadows fly down the range, breaking the boy's restraints and bringing him to Oroth. The shadows encloses around them both and they are gone.*

The skinny harlequin dances the Chaleston around the spot where Oroth stood:

A shadow with a bleeding heart
Did show his colors true this morn
If he returns, tear him apart!
And make his soul true shadow born ....

The harlequin tickles the chin of a newly-formed shadow minion.

I think he's stolen only meat
And left behind the soul so sweet...

A shocker lizard leaps in.
"May I has the kid's spirit?
If you has it here?
I has a weak place with him at the minute,
And I thinks, 'Why risk all this...
...for a child, mere?"
.....
"Yip, yip."

"The child's soul is already promised to me," Momus says. "It was his price for the right to join the Carnival."

Jack of Tears wrote:
"The child's soul is already promised to me," Momus says. "It was his price for the right to join the Carnival."

"What would you take as compensation?" The lizard asks, dropping the accent and rhymes.

"There is only one fair trade," Momus says. "If you bring me a soul, pure and uncorrupted, I will give you this soul. However, the soul you offer in return must be given freely and without coercion. Do we have a deal?"

Jack of Tears wrote:

The lizard thinks.

"Certainly, though it is difficult. It shall take a while though, in the meantime, keep it safe. Yip."
The lizard vanishes.

The Priestess of Discord appears. looking worse for the wear. She moves her hand over herself smoothing the tears and wounds from E7's thrice-damned allies. The old one is wily. Perhaps it was a mistake dragging those two buffoons in with her. Stealth has always been her most trusted ally.

The lizard reappears the next day.
"Back I am, owed me the spirit is,
I've held my part, here it is."
He holds up a small baby rabbit. He laughs.
"Yip, yip. Tis pure, tis innocent, as was the laws set,
Give me the spirit of the boy, and no enemy from me will you get."

"Our deal was that the soul must be freely given," Momus says. "An animal cannot freely give up it's soul. Try and cheat me again and you will regret the consequences"

Momus turns to Ash. "The best evil is to stick strictly to what you agree to and force all others to do the same. Yet always try to work the deal to your best advantage." Tickling a shadow jester nder it's chin he smiles. "Isn't that right my boy?"

"Indeed. But you is inright.

"This animal came to me, it did,
Willingly, and so on it put a proverbial lid,
I have my interpretation and you have thine,
This promises trouble, but the child is mine.
Yet I must ask, out of curiosity,
Is this the soul of the boy? Or fooled is I be?
Not that you is tell me, but ye can't kill me 'cause I tried,
Neither of us speaks the truth, but neither has yet lied."

A wind whispers secret words to the Runelord of Uncaring...
See the OTD OOC thread for the basis of an idea I've had...

That's a great idea and one that the Jack of Tears would accept.

Could he answer my question? Whether it's teh boy's soul?

Yes it's the boy's soul. See my note on the OTD OCC thread please.
