Liberty's Edge

Played Cyberpunk 2020 (or any version) and said to yourself "hmm...I wonder if I could adapt the Lifepath table to my D&D game?" If you wondered this and have done this I'd like to hear about it. I dug up some of my old CP2020 stuff and got all nolstagic over it and asked myself that question.

Loved the game. Never tried that though. I have given additional skill points just for the use of background skills. These can only be applied to skills that help flesh out the character's background. For me personally, that was an easier option.

I've farted around with it while making up npc's and whatnot; for any game....

I am not familiar with Cyberpunk 2020, but that sounds suspiciously like Central Casting's Heroes of Legend and/or Heroes Now.

The Exchange

Every campaign I have run since starts with 0 level PCs that get lifepath dice rolls as they progress to 1st level.

It is especially useful for beginners, when they have to learn their first weapons and skills.

Okay...so yeah and now. If you have NO idea what I am talking about...not to fret...google it. Lots of cool stuff come up. Bad comes to worst many FLGS out there still carry the books. In a nutshell a lifepath is a series of rolls on tables to let you know what happened to you as the *MAJOR* event in your life. It may give a mechanical benefit or hinderance depending on what happens. Otherwise it is just RP. We had you roll once per year from age 16 which is the the age of adulthood in CP 2020 per the sourcebook "Home of the Brave". Once you roll for all years prior to the current, the Ref makes a roll in secret to get an idea of what the event will be the current game year. In no way are they bound by it that roll...but it give ideas.

So as far as people who have messed with this idea...how did you do it? If you have it in a word doc or .pdf I'd love to see it. If not on a web site...post it. Lets see what you did.

Very much like Central Casting's books. They are out of print, but if you can find one, I strongly suggest you grab it up.

I love Central Casting's. I still use mine. It's funny how getting a traits like larger than normal and normatic and turn into a large sized barbarian bear warrior.
