Not only was the ending a nice twist, but the dragon is offically one of my favorite "villans".

No. The spellbooks are certainly important to V, but the dragon is not as selfish as V (at least in that regard). V has been spending all V's time on one thing: finding Haley. So, the dragon may decide to go after Haley instead.

If there's a twist, it'll probably be there.
Personally, I think it'll just be V's actual children.

What do you mean?

I'm pretty sure that Haley's mother is dead, Rich has always made that pretty clear. I could be wrong, but I'm almost certain. I think Burlew says it in War and XPs.
