I am. WOW and I thought I was the only one...
Are you a new Paizonian (I'm guessing so because of your low post count)?Where are you from?
Family prevents me from making it a regular event unfortuantely, as much as I'd like to. I'm lucky to get one day every couple of months to go down for a Card Tourney.

Long time lurker, but I've only posted a couple of things recently. So.. I suppose I'm new, yes. :)
I'm not actually from Newcastle per se--I live in Port Stephens. But, close enough! Honestly, I'm just surprised there's someone apart from myself and a close friend of mine interested in Pathfinder, haha...
Of course, the fact I'm from an extra hour or so out of town means it's a 3 hour trip one-way down to Sydney, which is why I can't see it working too well.

I lurked for quite a while before making my first posts as well. Once you start though it's like a snowball.
Same. I have been fervently trying to convert my gaming group. I have had minimal success. They seem interested, but like me are a bunch of lazy fnckers, so it's been an uphill battle.
Yeah that extra hour will do it.
Spare a tought for those in regional Queensland. :)
I tought I taw a puddy tat! ;)-

Are there THAT few Sydney-ites? or are they just lurking?
Sadly my 1xmth Pathfinder session a group of us have going is all the commitment I can make at present. Otherwise something like this could be fun. That being said I will let the guys know in case any of them are able to fit in more!
Oh well, at least our group has nicely appointed aircon'd offices to hang in over in Mascot - 15 minute drives rock :)

Thanks for the msg, indeed there is little interest. I'm going to call the game off this month.
I might try again some other time.DarkWhite |
Apologies for the thread-jack, but I thought I'd mention that three Sydney-siders have signed up for Pathfinder Society scenarios at Conquest in Melbourne this Easter (less than two weeks away!) I realise not everyone can travel interstate for conventions, but if you were looking for a weekend getaway this Easter, why not make it a gaming one? Details in an adjacent thread.
I wish all the best for your Tin Soldier group, it's great to see the Pathfinder community gathering in Australia, and I'm sure these will grow as more players are introduced and become aware of these events and gatherings. All it needs is for one person to organise a group for others to join.
I'd like to organise a regular Pathfinder meet in Melbourne too, but currently I'm in the midst of madness of selling / searching / buying house, so Conquest is all I can manage until I'm settled again.

Don't apologise, I appreciate the info. Do me a favour and mention to the Sydney folks of my efforts here in N.S.W.
In hindsight, it was a mistake to try to book something on the 11th, but I had no other weekend to work with in April. This was a bad month for me.I'd like to organise a regular Pathfinder meet in Melbourne too, but currently I'm in the midst of madness of selling / searching / buying house, so Conquest is all I can manage until I'm settled again.
Best of luck then. Thanks for the note of confidence. :)

There's actually a core of Pathfinder players in central Sydney; my local group (which includes the guys going to Conquest) is working its way through the first three Pathfinder adventure paths, and once Conquest is over, we are hoping to run some of the locals through the Pathfinder Society modules (probably based out of Epping).
However, don't let that stop you trying to organise something at Tin Soldier; although its a bit of a hike for me (I am living in Camperdown), I could still probably be tempted to make the trip for Pathfinder Society ;-)

An ideal opportunity for any of the three guys coming to Conquest to then GM any scenarios they have played for Sydney folk on their return. Spread the love! :-)

As 'senior DM (by rank of insanity)' of this local Group, that is a proposed plan. I am currently running Curse of the Crimson throne, my mate (Patto) is running Second Darkness, and another friend ran Rise of the Runelords, so we know Golarion pretty well. Stephen, I was hoping to ask if we three travellers can avoid doing mods 11 and 12 for this exact reason, as Luke has already done them he can run em for us when we get back, and we can run the other modules we did.
As to Pathfinder in Penrith, perhaps it is a possibility, I have some misgivings over the venue however (location being a major factor, none of us are anywhere near it) At the moment we are discussing options, including perhaps running it at future Cons here.

No problem there. I'm hoping to run scenarios from #1 onwards roughly in order, depending on who else joins the table and what they've already played, and perhaps delaying one or two scenarios that have proven to be particularly challenging for first-level play until characters have a level or two under their belts.
I've run the early scenarios a few times already, so I'm getting pretty familiar with them. I enjoy running new ones too, but if players haven't played the early scenarios yet, there's no reason not to start from the beginning, and save more recent scenarios for tables that have already played the early ones. Otherwise you soon run into the situation where everyone at the table has played a mix of different scenarios, and someone has to miss out because you can't find one that no-one has yet played.
I also think it's pretty exciting to be involved in a new organised play campaign such as Pathfinder Society from the very start, giving players a shared experience. Some of these adventures have proven quite memorable, with players talking about them long after they've been played ... dare I say, become classics?

Hi
Would it be possible to join your group as a player? I have been playing RPGs for many years and I am looking for joining a new group to play PF or D&D (3E, 3.5). I recently moved to Sydney from old Europe so I am dying to find a new RPG group in the Sydney area ;)
You can contact me directly at jtblin at gmail dot com.
Thanks!

Just saw that you are in Melbourne and I live in Sydney...
Anyhow if anyone has space for a new player in the Sydney area, please contact me.
Sorry for the spam.
Happy gaming all

I only just spotted this thread - I had the Pathfinder Society minimised as I thought there wouldn't be one in Sydney :-(
Penrith is a bit to far for me.
You may be able to find players at the following gathering SYDNEY AUSTRALIA - Pazionian Pub Gathering in late June
Everybody is welcome.

Yeah, it would be grand to see as many Paizonians together as possible.
Personally, I am with Mr. Dwarf, I'd love to be apart of a Pathfinder Society in Sydney, but Penrith is a wee bit too far for me.
Hopefully we can identify many more Sydney-based Paizonians and slowly create a Pathfinder Society that could meet in different locations but be united through out common interest of the game may be through Tin Soldier in Penrith and the City? Even a website might do the trick?

Likewise. But it looks like there are a few of us located around the inner west and Mascot and such. Maybe we can get another Society group together ... I own all the scenarios released so far ...

Would be cool if a society got up, would put in the odd cameo as long as I could get the odd day off work, and as long as the 'Minister of Fun and Entertainment' was happy (lest she become the 'Leader of the Opposition')
Often they are called "she who must be obeyed" (SWMBO)....its all about brownie points and compromise. You have to earn the brownie points and do the compromising but hey.

For those interested, I created the Sydney Pathfinder RPG blog.
The idea is to start a society group in Sydney or other regular sessions.
Please vote and let me know if you are interested in participating (open to everyone).
Cheers

Hmm, thread has been dead for a while.
I'm co-running a Pathfinder game at Unlimited Hobbies at Blacktown. If anyone interested in joining next month (we're running the first Saturday of each month) reply and let me know.
Probably will be running scenarios #3 [Murder on the Silken Caravan] and #4 [Frozen Fingers of Midnight].
Shifty |
Yeah good bump - I wonder how the Sydney guys are all chugging along?
The group I play with are currently enjoying the pants off a Homebrew campaign, with some suggestion of me kicking off a second Homebrew campaign, but just couldn't see us making the shift to the AP's etc required for full PFS type play.

I thought it might be worth pointing out that the Blacktown Games Day also runs on the second Saturday of every month at Blacktown North Public School (http://www.warhorn.net/blacktown/)
They always run two slots on the day, and tend to run at least two Pathfinder Society modules!
In January, they are running:
PFS #4 The Frozen Fingers of Midnight
PFS #15: The Asmodeus Mirage
PFS #16: To Scale the Dragon
I won't be there, as I am interstate, but I am sure they would welcome some extra players :-)

Im interested. Depends on the timings you guys run. Day or night gaming sessions and what time is it all kicking off?
Since its at the Unlimited Hobbies store, the Society game is a day session (start 10:30am - end 6pm... or thereabout).
We had the first session on January 2nd* and Saturday 6th February should be the next one.* sorry for not advertising this on the board earlier, I was told there was a lot of interest for the game so I couldn't advertise it further without us running out of DMs (we only have 2 thus far). Ironically, we only got enough players for one table on the day. Typical.

Sorry for thread jacking or whatever it maybe called but I saw Masika's post and knowing that I can't PM him (or anyone...) I am accually trying to get a queensland pathfinder society thing going.
_metz_, could I say that starting a facebook page is not a bad idea, used to e-mail a whole lot of people that was less than fantastic.
But a place for people to talk about your events and such.
Yeah so...
Thats all I have to say.

We'll be running #3 [Murder on the Silken Caravan] and #4 [Frozen Fingers of Midnight]. I'll also be able to run #2 [The Hydra's Fang Incident] if we have interest in that module.
We're getting a surprising amount of interest for February all of a sudden, which is great. I am confident we can cater for everyone.

Murder on the Silk Caravan sounds good to me.
Just checking, is it 10:30am start, then the one module runs all day?

Yeh that's right (although 2 semi-interested players held things up until after 11am last time.)
We hope to run the 2 games on the day, since 10:30 - 6:00pm should be enough time provided we're on schedule.Otherwise, thanks! Hope to see you there!
P.S. I almost forgot, since Unlimited Hobbies shop is a commercial venue, the owner may ask for $5 cover fee for the use of the venue for the day.
